Acacia Adventure Holidays’ NEW 8-day Kruger Combination Voluntour is a “hands on” adventure, with opportunities to be directly involved in the care and rehabilitation of animals at the “Race Against Extinction Project.” One of the oldest conservation volunteer schemes for the African cheetah, the venture has been in operation for 37 years.
Heath Ashcroft, Marketing Director at Acacia Adventure Holidays, comments: “Many of our overland tours and small group safaris already include various non-profit visits and optional charity based experiences where adventurers are invited to volunteer. However, with an increasing number of tourists looking to give something back to the country they are visiting we are hoping to extend our dedicated voluntour section with the launch of this new trip.”
The project is set in the foothills of the beautiful Magaliesberg Mountains and the itinerary incorporates a basic orientation and the chance to work in close proximity with various animals including, the brown hyena, suni antelope, wild dog, cheetah, and a wide variety of vulture species.
According to the tour operator, many of its travellers are opting to combine the traditional African safari with volunteering, and two days of game viewing in the Kruger National Park are included in the new itinerary.
Accommodation is based in single, twin, triple and quad rooms with shared bathroom facilities (5-nights), twin share rondavels at a private lodge (one-night) and pre-erected two person dome tents (two-nights).
