New hotels spell boom time for Qatari tourism

Qatar is fast establishing itself as a top destination in the Middle East for both business and leisure travellers. With the FIFA World Cup being held in the destination in 2022, the country is currently undergoing a sustained period of development and growth.

Over 85,000 hotel rooms are set to be available by 2022 alone and progress is well under way with dozens of properties completing each week.

In the last few months alone the St Regis Doha and the InterContinental Doha The City have opened in the capital with over 600 rooms between them.

Recent developments from internationally renowned luxury brands through to budget properties have shown significant long-term investment in the region, all eager to quickly expand on the diverse and dynamic hotel scene and extend the Qatar experience to all style of travellers. 

Qatar is also heavily investing in infrastructure leading up to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, with the construction of elite sporting stadiums and upgrades to the Doha International Airport. 

Hilton Hotels & Resorts opens first hotel in Qatar

Earlier this month, Hilton Hotels & Resorts celebrated the opening of Hilton Doha, its first hotel in Qatar and a new addition to the global portfolio.

The new 309-room Hilton Doha is ideally located on the headland of the capital city’s Corniche, near main attractions such as the Souq Waqif and Museum of Islamic Art.

The hotel features a 750-capacity ballroom, dedicated conference wing, six restaurants and bars, outdoor swimming pool, kids club, private beach, view of the Arabian Gulf from every bedroom and the first eforea: spa at Hilton in the Middle East.

New Four Seasons

Qatar is set to see a second five star Four Seasons Hotel which is currently under construction in Doha.

This further demonstrates the confidence in the region from the world’s top names in hospitality and tourism.

The first Four Seasons development, the Four Seasons Hotel Doha, offers modern luxury blended with classic charm, with seven restaurants and lounges, three-storey spa and wellness centre, extensive business facilities and private beach.

Doha’s first Premier Inn

Doha’s first Premier Inn is under construction in the city offering a more cost effective place to stay, catering to price conscious travellers.

Visitors on a budget will now have the opportunity to experience the many attractions, taste the gastronomic delights and shop in the beautifully restored Souks of Qatar.

Set to open in 2013, the first Premier Inn will be a 200 room hotel situated at the Doha Education City, an area at the outskirts of Doha which is the home to some of the leading educational institutes in the world.

Launch of Katara Hospitality

Katara Hospitality, the new identity for Qatar National Hotels Company, has more than 4,000 hotel rooms already operational or under construction.

New openings on the horizon include an iconic development in the Marina District of the new Lusail city and the Merwebhotel City Centre Doha.
