Neighbor of New York, New Jersey is a state that is connected to the famous Big Apple. There is the East Coast “Mini Vegas”, the small town of Atlantic City.

As the city is very close to New York, around 2 hours by car, this destination is a good request for those who want to make a comeback. But in case you have a little time left, I think 3 days in the city is more than enough.

Atlantic City Boardwalk
Although Atlantic City is considered the West Coast mini-Vegas, do not expect to see much luxury there, even though it is a place with luxurious hotels and casinos, the city does not come at the feet of all the glamor of Sin City. Even so, the intention is not to discourage anyone who has plans to visit it, just want to be realistic and put my point of view on the place, because I believe that even not being a Vegas in Life, Atlantic City has its charm. The city has even inspired tons of sports apps.

How to get from New York to Atlantic City?
You can go by train, van, car or bus. If you go by bus (the most important means of transportation), you can buy your ticket at the New York City Bus Terminal (Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan) or even the company’s website. Another company that takes the bus route is the Greyhound.

Note: one thing that made me super happy is that when I landed in Atlantic City I won a card with $ 25.00 to spend at the casino I came down to, is not that great? I do not know if this still exists, but at the time I made the trip I saw everyone win this card when they landed at the casinos.

When to go to Atlantic City?
Without a doubt, the best time to visit Atlantic City is during the summer, I will explain why. As the city is beachy, the place is full of attractions during this time of year, as well as enjoying the beach, which is crowded, there are the famous pool parties.

Just a note, the Atlantic City beach is not very pretty if compare to the beaches of California or Florida, in addition, the sea water is super chilled. I went during the winter, and I can say that even with the cold, I was able to enjoy it a lot. Even without beach and sun, strolling through the hotels’ casinos was a very fun program.

Where to stay?
One mistake I made when I went to Atlantic City was to stay in a neighborhood away from the casinos. I regretted bitterly when I realized that the cheap came out expensive, because as the hotel was away from the famous boardwalk (place where the hotels are casinos facing the beach), what happened is that I had to spend with taxi and bus. So stay away from it, stay in one of the casinos that stay on the boardwalk, so you will not spend anything with public transportation, as all the attractions of the city are on this catwalk.

The daily rates at hotels on the boardwalk are not very high, just like in Las Vegas, it is possible to stay in a luxury hotel for a very reasonable price. Another advantage of being a hotel casino on the boardwalk is that you can enjoy the beautiful ocean views. One of the hotels I liked the most and the one that made you stay is the Tropicana. The hotel is not one of the most luxurious, but it is what has the casino that most pleased me.

Other hotel options in Atlantic City I recommend: Caesars and Bally’s.
Note: During the summer the city is crowded, so if you decide to go in this season, schedule yourself and book the hotel in advance, because the demand is very high and you can run the risk of not finding a place. If you decide to go during the winter, the city is not very crowded and the daily value is even cheaper.

1. Walk along the famous boardwalk
The Boardwalk is a wide wooden boardwalk, with almost 4 km of length that runs parallel to the sea. Here you will find a pier with a playground, several shops where you can buy souvenirs, restaurants, the famous casinos, among other attractions such as several buildings and different colored and different wooden houses.

2. Casinos
The reason why Atlantic City attracts so many people, besides the beach, are its famous casinos. Even if you’re not a professional player, I find it super fun to lose a few dollars on the slot machines. You can also play New Jersey Sports Betting games there! The games will bring you a lot of fun.

3. Enter the casinos
Casino hotels are full of attractions and in some of them you can find great bars, restaurants, cafes and even nightclubs. The casino that most enchanted me, the most beautiful on the outside was the Trump Taj Mahal. Caesars and Borgata (which is a casino hotel with spa), both are beautiful inside, with a very luxurious decor.

4. Nightclub, Bars and Restaurants
The nightlife in Atlantic City is quite hectic and attracts many young people who are looking for fun, drinking and dancing. Because of this, the city has great options of nightclubs, restaurants and bars, and the vast majorities are within the casinos hotels.

5. Shopping
With the tax much cheaper than in New York, take the time to go shopping at one of the Atlantic City outlets. According to surveys, one of the best outlets is the Tanger Outlet. Now for the summer season, you can enjoy the following attractions in Atlantic City.
6. Beach

Even if you do not get a chance to go in the summer, it’s worth a walk along the beach; take time to see the seagulls singing and smell the sea, and if the weather is good, do not miss a beautiful photo of the sunset. If you are going during the summer, you can take a sunbath, take a dip if the sea water is hot, and if you need, have chairs to rent. And enjoy a drink at Bally’s Bikini Beach Club, which is right on the beach.
