Stena Line has bought two Irish Sea routes from DFSD Seaways in a deal worth €47.5 million – Belfast to Liverpool (Birkenhead) and Belfast to Heysham. It says the acquisition will enhance its Irish Seas services by offering several different alternatives for transportation between Ireland and the UK.

Stena Line’s second Superferry, Stena Britannica, is now officially handed over from Nordic Yards in Wismar to Stena Line, and it was entered into service on Harwich-Hook of Holland on 9th October 2010.

At the end of the second quarter, April - June 2010, leading ferry operator Stena Line has reported year-on-year increases of up to 14.5 per cent in the numbers of cars and passengers transported on its routes from Great Britain to Holland and Northern Ireland.

Stena Line has announced a successful maiden voyage for the Stena Hollandica, travelling across the North Sea from Harwich to the Hook of Holland.

Stena Line has announced that the HSS Stena Explorer will now commence service on its Holyhead - Dun Laoghaire route a month earlier on 26 May to cope with additional demand over the summer period.

At a time when travel companies across the globe are implementing cutbacks, Stena Line is spending millions on the refit and refurbishment of ships across its five Irish Sea routes.
