PortAventura moves into luxury market with Mansión de Lucy
To mark its 20th anniversary, PortAventura has moved into the luxury market by launching Mansión de Lucy – the resort’s first five-star hotel. Hotel Gold River, of which Mansión de Lucy used to be a part, has also been expanded into the largest in the resort through the addition of a new section – the Callaghan Building containing 78 deluxe rooms.
British tourists continue to dominate Spanish market
During July 2014, Spain welcomed more than 1.9 million UK visitors, making the UK the largest international tourism market to the country and representing 23 per cent of all international tourists. The monthly figure represented a year on year increase of 4.6 per cent.
Spain sees record tourism numbers in 2013
Spain welcomed in excess of 60.6 million international tourists in 2013, recording a 5.6 per cent year on year increase and the strongest inbound tourism statistics to Spain since the launch of the FRONTUR surveys. In turn, spend by foreign visitors in Spain also reached record highs, with a total in excess of 59 billion euros in 2013, up 9.6 per cent year on year.
Canaries rising star in Spain growth
Only this week Spain announced its highest ever visitor numbers on record and in July alone it saw a 3.4% yearly increase and 2.9% from January to July 2013.

Scores killed in Spanish train crash
A train derailment in north-western Spain has claimed the lives of at least 77 passengers, with more than 100 more injured. Some 218 passengers were onboard the Madrid to Ferrol train when it came off the tracks near the city of Santiago de Compostela.

Nine killed in Spain floods
