Singapore Airlines appoints new leadership in UK
Singapore Airlines has appointed Sheldon Hee as general manager for the United Kingdom and Ireland. Hee replaces Wilson Yong, who is being posted back to head office in Singapore having held the role since December 2012. Hee will be based at the Singapore Airlines London office in Chiswick and brings with him an array of experience from the aviation and tourism industry.

Singapore Airlines to link Canberra and Wellington with new route
Singapore Airlines is to introduce services to both Canberra and Wellington with the launch of a new ‘Capital Express’ route. The new flights from Singapore will connect the capitals of both Australia and New Zealand. Subject to regulatory approvals, flights will be operated four times per week from September 20th on a Singapore-Canberra-Wellington routing.
Singapore Airlines draws closer to Lufthansa with new codeshare deal
Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa have signed a wide-ranging partnership agreement that will see the two airline groups operating key routes between Singapore and Europe on a joint-venture basis, in addition to significantly expanding codeshare ties and deepening commercial co-operation. Flights between Singapore and both Frankfurt and Munich, as well as flights between Singapore and Zurich, are to be operated under revenue-sharing arrangements.
Singapore Airlines to welcome long-range Airbus A350-900 to fleet
Singapore Airlines has selected Airbus’ newly launched Ultra-Long Range version of the A350-900 for non-stop flights to the US. Under an amendment to the carrier’s existing order for 63 A350-900s, seven of the aircraft will now be delivered with an Ultra-Long Range capability for flights of up to 19 hours.

Singapore Airlines launches new Premium Economy Class
Singapore Airlines’ newest class of travel, Premium Economy Class, has opened to passengers. From August 9th 2015, customers travelling on select flights from Singapore to Sydney will be the first to experience the new cabin class, which will subsequently be made available to other destinations served by the airline’s Airbus A380s and Boeing 777-300ERSs, in addition to the future fleet of Airbus A350s.

EVA Air and Singapore Airlines customers can now enjoy more seamless travel to the United States and Canada, as a result of an expanded codeshare agreement between the two carriers. Singapore Airlines will codeshare on EVA Air-operated flights from Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport to Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, Toronto and Vancouver.
Singapore links South Africa to global network
South African passengers will find it more convenient to fly to New Zealand, with the new alliance between Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand due to launch in January 2015, with codeshare flights going on sale on both airlines’ services between Singapore and New Zealand now. Alvin Seah, general manager Central and Southern Africa at Singapore Airlines, said: “The alliance will see the Star Alliance carriers operating one return service each per day on the Singapore-Auckland route and Singapore Airlines operating a daily return service between Singapore and Christchurch.”
