Singapore Airlines has this morning become one of the latest airlines to launch its operations from the new Terminal 2 at London Heathrow Airport. In celebration of the move, special guest Sir Stamford Raffles, the British statesman best known as the father of modern Singapore, was brought to the terminal by the world famous Madame Tussauds.

The clearance represents the New Zealand regulatory approval needed for Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand to proceed with the alliance, which was announced on January 16th.

Singapore Airlines is adding a temporary new service to the Greek capital Athens between June and October 2014 as demand continues to rise. Flights will be operated twice per week, on Mondays and Thursdays, between 9 June 2014 and 9 October 2014. Boeing 777-200ERs will be used for the flights.

Singapore Airlines’ first aircraft offering AeroMobile’s inflight mobile connectivity service took its inaugural flight from Singapore to London on Friday 27 September 2013. Through AeroMobile’s inflight roaming service, SIA customers will be able to use their own mobile phones to text and browse the internet at 30,000 feet.
