Singapore Airlines appoints new leadership in UK

Singapore Airlines has appointed Sheldon Hee as general manager for the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Hee replaces Wilson Yong, who is being posted back to head office in Singapore having held the role since December 2012.

Hee will be based at the Singapore Airlines London office in Chiswick and brings with him an array of experience from the aviation and tourism industry.

He arrives from Singapore where, most recently, he held the post of vice president marketing communications and development; a role he occupied for nearly five years.

During this time he oversaw the brand’s ‘Lengths We Go To’ advertising campaign, as well as the launch of the airline’s title sponsorship of the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix.

In his 18-year Singapore Airlines career to date, r Hee has held a variety of positions, including general manager at Tradewinds Tours & Travel and general manager Switzerland.

The departing Yong has overseen a busy period for Singapore Airlines with his tenure seeing the launch of the UK’s first rail-fly and coach-fly partnerships, in conjunction with Great Western Railway, Heathrow Express and National Express, to offer customers intermodal connectivity when they book flights with the airline.

In September 2014, the award-winning carrier also undertook an entire terminal move into the new T2 at Heathrow.

The Singapore Airlines team in the UK comprises over 125 employees, of which six report directly to the general manager role, while Hee will himself report to regional vice president Europe, Subhas Menon.
