Qatar Airways to make move to Hamad International Airport
Qatar Airways will officially move to its new home at Hamad International Airport, the world’s newest state-of-the art hub, on May 27th, 2014, when the world-class facility will become the new home for the national carrier of Qatar. Qatar Airways, which has been operating out of Doha International Airport for 17 years, has grown from operating only a handful of aircraft regionally to today where it has 134 aircraft flying to 138 international destinations.

Qatar Airways flies into Al Hofuf to boost Saudi flights
Qatar Airways is adding Al Hofuf in Saudi Arabia to its ever-increasing list of destinations. And as a further demonstration of its commitment to expanding its regional footprint, Qatar Airways recently increased the frequencies of two of its other destinations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Cathay Pacific Airways and Qatar Airways have launched a new code-share agreement between the two oneworld alliance airlines. Under a strategic agreement with its oneworld partner - Qatar Airways - Cathay Pacific first started servicing Doha directly on 30 March 2014.
Qatar Airways joins oneworld partners in Japan
Qatar Airways has moved to join its fellow oneworld alliance partners in Terminal 2 of Tokyo’s Narita International Airport. The move from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 means Qatar Airways joins Japan Airlines and other oneworld partners including American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas and S7 Airlines in the airport’s most modern terminal.
Qatar Airways expands Melbourne flights
Doha-based Qatar Airways has confirmed it will upgrade its capacity on its Melbourne-Doha route, with the introduction of a Boeing 777-300 aircraft. The use of the new long-range wide-body aircraft will result in a 30 per cent capacity increase on the daily flights to Melbourne, which translates to 76 more seats per day. Qatar Airways also flies daily to Perth in Western Australia.
Qatar Airways launches new flights to Djibouti
Qatar Airways has announced a further expansion of its route network in Africa with Djibouti joining its ever-growing list of destinations served direct from the airline’s Doha hub. Thrice-weekly non-stop flights will operate from Doha to Djibouti beginning from July 27th 2014.
First minister Salmond welcomes Qatar Airways to Scotland
Qatar Airways chief executive Akbar Al Baker has met with Scottish first minister, Alex Salmond, to discuss the launch of the new services and Scotland’s potential growth prospects. The meeting precedes the launch of services between Doha and Edinburgh on May 28th. Al Baker said the airline was pleased to be launching services from the city and that Scotland’s tourism industry, along with infrastructure developments and potential business opportunities were key factors leading the airline’s decision to begin flying there.
Qatar Airways boosts Middle East with new UAE links
Qatar Airways has continued its aggressive expansion plans with the launch of two new regional routes, thereby growing its strong connections within the Middle East. The new routes, to Sharjah and Dubai World Central Al Maktoum International Airport, will both operate daily from the airline’s hub in Doha and add to the existing Qatar Airways network of flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, doubling the total number of destinations within the United Arab Emirates from two to four.
Cathay Pacific launches Hong Kong-Doha deal with Qatar Airways
Cathay Pacific Airways and Qatar Airways, members of the oneworld alliance, have announced a strategic agreement on services operated by both airlines between Hong Kong and Doha, effective March 30th 2014. The agreement between the two airlines is expected to generate a wide range of benefits for customers. Under the new agreement, Cathay Pacific and Qatar Airways will each operate one flight between Hong Kong and Qatar daily, offering premium products and services to passengers travelling to and from the two cities.
Qatar Airways upgrades business class seats
Qatar Airways is upgrading its Business Class seats and entertainment systems on select Airbus A330-200 and A320 aircraft, in order to offer an even more luxurious and consistent experience to customers. The upgrade – which is part of an on-going customer enhancement project – will usher in new levels of comfort for Business Class passengers, who will now enjoy seats that recline into a true 180-degree lie-flat position.
