Qatar Airways to sue construction company following Doha Airport delay
Qatar Airways is filing a US$600 million legal claim against German Emirati joint venture construction company Lindner Depa Interiors for causing a significant delay to the opening of the New Doha International Airport by up to a year. LDI had undertaken to complete the construction of 19 airport lounges at NDIA by the summer of 2012 in a contract worth over US$ 250 million, but failed to complete the project on time.
Qatar Airways brings top tennis stars to Doha
Qatar Airways will ring in the New Year as the official airline of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2013, attracting some of the world’s top tennis players on the men’s circuit. Stars Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer will descend upon the courts of the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in the Qatari capital for what will be the first major tennis tournament on the 2013 global calendar.
Qatar Airways boosts Bangkok flight connections
Qatar Airways has announced an increase in the number of scheduled flights to Bangkok from three to four a day, effective February 20th next year. The additional daily service, taking frequency up to 28 non-stop flights a week, marks a significant rise in capacity on one of the airline’s busiest routes from its Doha hub.
Oman Air agrees Muscat-Oman code-share with Qatar Airways
Oman Air and Qatar Airways have announced a codeshare agreement, allowing Oman Air customers to book flights from any of the 42 departure points within its network to Doha, the capital of Qatar. The codeshare agreement is effective immediately and customers can now book flights through local outlets.
Qatar Airways brings Boeing Dreamliner to London for first time
Qatar Airways has launched its inaugural long-haul Boeing 787 Dreamliner service on the Doha – London Heathrow route, becoming the first airline to operate regular scheduled flights with the state-of-the art aircraft to and from the UK. Despite wintry weather, Qatar Airways’ 787 – flight QR075 – was warmly welcomed at London Heathrow by a special arrival ceremony.
Qatar Airways to launch Chengdu flights
Qatar Airways has outlined plans to launch scheduled flights to Chengdu - its sixth gateway in the China, beginning March 19th next year. The Doha-based airline will operate three-flights-a-week to the capital of Sichuan Province in Southwest China taking its total weekly frequency across the country to 41 non-stop services spread across six cities.

Qatar Airways and Tourism Western Australia have launched a major marketing campaign to promote the airline’s new daily flights from the UK to Perth that will position Western Australia as a ‘must visit’ destination. The campaign will target the trade through a series of co-operative campaigns and familiarisation trips, as well as include digital advertising and media partnerships.
Qatar Airways set to launch 787 London route
Qatar Airways has revealed December 13 as the launch date of its first long-haul Boeing 787 commercial service from Doha to London Heathrow. The 787 Dreamliner will debut on the Heathrow route as Doha-based Qatar Airways becomes the first airline to operate regular scheduled flights to the UK with Boeing’s next generation aircraft.
Qatar Airways to offer daily Perth flights from Doha
Qatar Airways is increasing frequency of services to the West Australian city of Perth to daily, effective December 1st 2012, in time for the peak holiday season. The new daily flight follows the successful launch of the thrice-weekly services to Perth earlier this year, Qatar Airways’ second daily gateway in Australia after Melbourne.
