PromPeru, the trade, tourism and investment office of Peru in Dubai will be present for the first time at ATM with a National Pavilion. Peru is ranked among the world’s ten most preferred destinations according to Ernst & Young, and Peru’s ministry of foreign trade and tourism has said that they expect a nine to ten percent increase in visitor arrivals in 2013.

Peru has won out against stiff competition to be voted the World’s Leading Culinary Destination at the star-studded World Travel Awards Grand Final. The event, held in New Delhi, India, saw the South American country fight off competition from notable foodie destinations such as France, China, Italy, Spain and Thailand to claim the culinary crown.
PromPerú has marked a new era in the history of its advertising with the release of its latest international campaign featuring a series of Hollywood-style film trailers designed to appeal to high-end travellers and showcase Peru’s luxury offering. While much of the campaign looks to showcase Peru’s diverse pre-Inca cultures, a key aim is to also change the perception of the country’s infrastructure and services, illustrating the variety of high quality luxury tourism offerings available.

Peru visitor’s bureau, PromPerú, is to invest heavily in travel trade initiatives as it looks to build on the momentum of the 100th anniversary of the rediscovery of Machu Picchu. The Inca ruins site at Machu Picchu is set to reopen to international visitors on April 1st, following a closure of two months following flooding. Speaking at ITB Berlin, officials from PromPeru confirmed the reopening following repairs to rail links to the site which were damaged earlier this year.
