Korean Air and Boeing begin work on training facility
Korean Air and Boeing, along with Incheon City, have started construction of a state-of-the-art aviation training center at Incheon’s Free Economic Zone. The training center will house 12 full flight simulators and train 3,500 pilots per year supporting Korean Air’s flight training programs.
Korean Air brings Perrier-Jouët to the skies
Korean Air’s first and business class passengers on international routes will now be able to enjoy one of the finest champagnes in the world – Perrier-Jouët. In keeping with the quality of the champagne, it will be served in elegant Riedel glassware.
Korean Air expands Etihad codeshare deal
Korean Air has announced an expansion of its code-share agreement with Etihad Airways, to include the Middle-East and Africa. Since mid-September, Korean Air has put its airline “KE” code on the Abu Dhabi-Johannesburg and Abu Dhabi-Muscat routes operated by Etihad Airways.

Korean Air flies A380 into Atlanta
Travelling to Atlanta with Korean Air will enter a new age this week, as the first A380 flights take off. Korean Air flight 036 will depart Atlanta Hartsfield at 13:10 today and will be the first commercial A380 flight out of the city.
Etihad signs partnership deal with Korean Air
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has signed a new codeshare agreement with Korean Air, South Korea’s largest airline. The partnership, which comes into effect on July 22nd subject to regulatory approval, brings to 46 the number of codeshares operated by the Abu Dhabi-based flag carrier.
Korean Air place $3.6bn order with Boeing
Boeing and Korean Air have announced the airline has agreed to purchase five 747-8 Intercontinental airplanes and six 777-300ER (Extended Range) jetliners, valued at approximately $3.6 billion at current list prices. Boeing will work with Korean Air to finalise the order, at which time the order will be posted to Boeing’s Orders & Deliveries website.
Korean Air boosts Canada flight connections
Korean Air has announced to increase frequency on its routes to Canada and China. From June 20th, the current five flights a week between Seoul/Incheon and Vancouver will be increased to daily flights, with flights to Toronto also increased to daily from June 24th.
IATA 2013: Korean Air chairman Yang Ho Cho reelected to IATA Board
Korean Air chairman and chief executive Yang Ho Cho has been re-elected to the International Air Transport Association Board of Governors for a three-year term. The ballots were cast at the 69th IATA Annual General Meeting currently being held in Cape Town, South Africa.
New leadership for Korean Air in UK
Korean Air has appointed Jason Kim as UK & Ireland regional manager, taking over from James Park, who has returned to the airlines’ head office in Seoul, Korea. Kim, who is based at the company’s offices in London Piccadilly, has been with Korean Air since 1996 and was previously general manager for Australia, based in Melbourne.
Korean Air takes minority stake in Czech Airlines
Korean Air and Czech Airlines have formalised Korean Air’s acquisition of 44 per cent of the Czech airline at a signing ceremony in Prague. By acquiring the stake, Korean Air becomes the airline’s second largest shareholder.
Korean Air signs codeshare deal with Myanmar Airways
Korean Air has signed a partnership and codeshare memorandum of understanding with Myanmar Airways International. Korean Air chief operating officer Chang Hoon Chi was joined by Myanmar Airways managing director Si Thu for a signing ceremony at Korean Air’s headquarters earlier.
