Korean Air has unveiled details of its flight schedule adjustment plans for the upcoming IATA Summer Season, from March 31st to October 26th 2013. The carrier will strengthen its routes to the Americas and provide customers with widened flight options.

Korean Air will introduce nine additional next-generation aircraft to its fleet in 2013; two A380s, one A330-200, two B777-300ERs, two B737-900ERs, one B747-8F and one B777F. The arrival of the addition two A380s in July and October 2013, will bring the number of Korean Air’s A380s to seven.

Korean Air has launched flights between Seoul/Incheon and the Saudi Arabian cities of Riyadh and Jeddah. The Seoul/Incheon-Riyadh-Jeddah route will be operated with an Airbus 330-200, seating 218 passengers and equipped with Korean Air’s premium seats.

Korean Air has announced its financial results for the third quarter of financial 2012, posting net income of KRW340 billion for the period. Despite global external conditions, the airline recorded operating profit of KRW 313 billion for the period ending September 30th, showing a 30.5 per cent increase on the same period in 2011.

Korean Air has expanded its network to the Middle East with the announcement that a direct service between Korea and Saudi Arabia, the largest Arab state in Western Asia, will begin on November 9th 2012. Korean Air will commence the direct service three times a week, flying from Seoul/Incheon first to Riyadh and then onto Jeddah.

Boeing and Korean Air have finalised an order for two 777-300ERs airplanes. The order is valued at $596 million at Boeing list prices. “Korean Air has been a valued Boeing customer for over five decades and we are honored the airline has again chosen the 777-300ER to expand its long-haul fleet,” said Ihssane Mounir, vice president of sales and marketing for Greater China and Korea, Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
