Korean Air will resume services between South Korea’s Incheon and Russia’s second largest city, St. Petersburg. Commencing April 21st, the airline will operate three flights a week, utilising Airbus A330 aircraft equipped with AVOD in all seats and accommodating up to 218 passengers. A gateway to northern Europe, St. Petersburg is a major European cultural centre with a rich heritage and centuries old traditions.

Korean Air has announced it will launch new flight services from Incheon International Airport in Seoul to Okinawa, Japan’s southernmost prefecture, from May 5th, 2016 which will be the 16th destination in Japan for the carrier. Korean Air will operate daily flights on Incheon-Okinawa route, utilizing Boeing’s B777-200 aircraft seating 248 passengers.

Korean Air has announced the launch of a new codeshare agreement and frequent flyer program with Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline. The codeshare agreement will start from March 1st 2016, and will offer greater convenience and choice to passengers travelling from India to Incheon, Seoul, through gateway airports in Asian destinations such as Singapore and Bangkok.

Korean Air has confirmed that after almost five years since it introduced the A380 aircraft to its fleet, the double-decker will come into service on the Seoul Incheon-London Heathrow route. The A380 daily flight will commence with the start of the summer service on March 27th, with the flight leaving Seoul at 13:25 arriving at Heathrow’s terminal four at 17:25.

Boeing and Korean Air today finalised the airline’s order of 30 737 MAXs and two additional 777-300ER (Extended Range) jetliners valued at nearly $4 billion at current list prices. The airline also has options for additional 737 MAXs as part of the order, which was previously announced as a commitment during the Paris Air Show in June. With this order for up to 52 Boeing airplanes, Korean Air becomes Boeing’s newest 737 MAX customer and now has 62 firm Boeing airplane orders on backlog.

Boeing and Korean Air have marked the delivery of the airline’s first 747-8 Intercontinental. The new fuel-efficient jet is the first of 10 747-8 passenger airplanes the carrier has on order. “This new aircraft delivers better fuel economy,” said Walter Cho, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Korean Air.

Korean Air has signed a memorandum of understanding totalling more than US$12 billion with Airbus and Boeing for the purchase of more than 100 new aircraft today at the Paris Air show. According to the deal, Korean Air will purchase a total of 50 737 MAX-8 – with 30 firm orders and a further 20 options - and two 777-300ER (Extended Range) jetliners from Boeing.

Korean Air, the flagship carrier of South Korea, has announced a new codeshare agreement with GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes under the condition of Brazil government approval. Starting from tomorrow, the codeshare agreement will offer greater convenience and choice to passengers travelling through Sao Paulo to 16 other cities within Brazil including Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia and Manaus.

Korean Air has announced an extended codeshare agreement with China Airlines, increasing the flights offered by Korean Air between South Korea and Taiwan. Following regulatory approval, flights will be added between Seoul and Kaohsiung and also between Busan and Taipei. A codeshare is an aviation business partnership whereby a flight operated by one airline, is jointly marketed by one or more other airlines.
