AerCap signs up for 50 A320neo aircraft at Farnborough
AerCap, the industry leading lessor headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, has firmed up an order for 50 additional A320neo Family aircraft at the Farnborough International Airshow 2014. The contract, AerCap’s first major aircraft order following the acquisition of ILFC earlier this year, was signed by Philip Scruggs, AerCap president and Fabrice Brégier, Airbus president.
Airbus launches A330-800neo and A330-900neo at Farnborough
Following a decision by the board of directors of the Group, Airbus has launched the A330-800neo and A330-900neo, two new members of its Widebody Family, which will incorporate latest generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, aerodynamic enhancements and new cabin features. Benefitting from the unbeatable economics, versatility and high reliability of the A330, the A330neo reduces fuel consumption by 14 per seat, making it the most cost efficient, medium range Widebody aircraft on the market.

Monarch Airlines links with Boeing for fleet modernisation at Farnborough
Boeing and Monarch Airlines today announced that the two companies are finalising terms and working towards a Purchase Agreement for 30 737 MAX 8s, marking the start of a fleet transition for Monarch to Boeing single-aisle airplanes. The order, valued at $3.1 billion at current list prices, will be posted to the Boeing Orders & Deliveries website complete.

Qatar Airways is preparing a strong presence at the 2014 Farnborough Air Show, which opens today. Taking place in southern England, the show will see Qatar Airways fly the A350 aircraft for the first time at a flying display at a European air show.
Airbus Group to sponsor Farnborough Airshow
Airshow organisers Farnborough International today confirmed Airbus Group is to sponsor the Farnborough Airshow – the weekend aviation spectacular taking place on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th July. The aircraft manufacturer’s decision to support the event comes after month of negotiation as the company sought to find the perfect vehicle to support its own rebranding exercise.
TUI Travel signs long-term Dreamliner maintenance deal at Farnborough
Boeing and the Europe-based TUI Travel have signed a five-year agreement to provide 787 Dreamliner flight, maintenance and cabin safety training. Boeing also announced at the Farnborough International Airshow it will place a second 787 full-flight simulator at its European training headquarters at London Gatwick to support the training requirements of the TUI Group and European 787 customers.
GE Capital Aviation Services orders 100 Boeing 737s at Farnborough
Boeing has confirmed a commitment by GE Capital Aviation Services, the commercial aircraft leasing and financing arm of General Electric, to purchase 75 737 MAX 8s and 25 Next-Generation 737-800s. Revealing the details at the Farnborough International Airshow, the manufacturer said commitment builds on the momentum for the 737 MAX.

Cathay Pacific expands A350 XWB fleet with Farnborough order
Cathay Pacific Airways today announced that it intends to add the A350-1000 to its future A350 XWB fleet, with an agreement to place a new order for ten aircraft. In addition, the Hong Kong-based airline will convert 16 of its existing orders for the A350-900 to the larger A350-1000.
UK government announces £120m Aerospace Growth Partnership
An £120 million investment from government and industry in aerospace research and technology was announced by business secretary Vince Cable today at the Farnborough International Airshow. The new funding, part of a total £200 million investment in aerospace since 2011, was announced alongside a new vision for the future of the sector which will help UK aerospace firms win billions of pounds worth of new contracts over the next 15 to 20 years.
UK prime minister Cameron visits Malaysia Airlines A380 at Farnborough
Malaysia Airlines’ second Airbus A380 received a VIP visit earlier from UK prime minister David Cameron, as part of his attendance at the Farnborough International Air Show. Malaysia Airlines’ Group chief executive Ahmad Jauhari Yahya and Fabrice Bregier, president and chief executive of Airbus, welcomed Cameron on-board the aircraft following the official opening ceremony.
