Revitalised aviation soars at Farnborough
Aviation commentators are predicting an end to the global economic slump as aircraft orders continue to accumulate at the Farnborough International Air Show. A resurgent Airbus performed well, recording orders for over 130 aircraft, while rival Boeing secured 103 orders worth $10 billion.
RBS places £5 billion jet order
RBS Aviation Capital, the plane leasing subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Scotland, has placed orders with Boeing and Airbus worth £5 billion at the Farnborough Airshow. Many of the narrow-body A320s and 737s will be leased to carriers across Asia, the Middle East and South America.
Farnborough orders top $25 billion
The tally of plane orders by the close of third day of the Farnborough Airshow has passed the $25 billion mark, as a resurgent commercial aviation sector offset severe cut backs to government defence expenditure.
Big hitters flex their muscles at Farnborough
Boeing and Airbus have picked up a raft of new orders at Farnborough Airshow, in the strongest signal yet that the aviation industry to returning to good health. Boeing is currently leading the way with 130 orders, followed closely by Airbus with 122.
Boeing and Airbus do battle at Farnborough
Arch rivals Airbus and Boeing are locked in a battle for orders at this week’s Farnborough Airshow, as the airline industry lifts off again after a two-year slump. Emirates has placed a $9.1bn order for 30 Boeing 777-300ERs, whilst Airbus has also received an order for 51 A320 jets from Air Lease Corporation, worth $4.4bn.
