Etihad to launch passenger services to Entebbe, Uganda
Etihad Airways will build upon the success of its Entebbe cargo flights with the launch of a new passenger service to the East African city. Daily flights will be operated to Entebbe International Airport from May 1st 2015, using a two-class Airbus A320 aircraft with 16 Business Class seats and 120 Economy Class seats.
Etihad Airways reveals Edinburgh flight plans for 2015
Etihad Airways will next year launch its first service from Scotland with the start of a non-stop daily flight from Edinburgh to its home base of Abu Dhabi, the UAE’s capital city. The new route, which will commence on June 8th, 2015, will be operated with a two-class Airbus A330-200 aircraft, offering a total of 22 seats in business class and 240 seats in economy class.
Etihad signs wide ranging partnership with Philippine Airlines
Etihad Airways and Philippine Airlines have announced a strategic partnership agreement that marks a new era of cooperation between the two flag carriers. The agreement covers codeshare flights, loyalty programmes, airport lounges, joint sales and marketing programmes, a Philippines domestic air pass, cargo, and the coordination of airport operations to provide a better customer experience at their Abu Dhabi and Manila hub airport bases.
Record figures for Etihad as revenue soars
Etihad Airway has reported double-digit growth in passenger and cargo volumes during the first half of 2014, marking its strongest ever performance for the six-month period, with total revenues increasing to US$3.2 billion. A total of 6.7 million passengers travelled with the airline between January and June this year, almost 22 per cent higher than the 5.5 million passengers in the same period last year.
Etihad Airways signs sponsorship deal with Melbourne City Football Club
Melbourne City Football Club has announced Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, as its new principal partner. The five-year deal and new team kit were unveiled today by Melbourne City FC chief executive Scott Munn and Etihad president James Hogan at the club’s AAMI Park home stadium earlier.
England and Wales Cricket Board links with Etihad Airways
Etihad Airways and the England and Wales Cricket Board today announced a three-year partnership deal which will see the carrier become the first ever official airline partner of the England Cricket Teams. The sponsorship agreement will see all England national teams across men’s, women’s, age-group and disability cricket, fly with Etihad Airways and experience its award-winning products and services.
Etihad Airways set to boost India flights
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, will provide travellers with even more connections between India, the UAE and other key markets around the world, following a major service upgrade to Kochi, Bangalore, Chennai, Kozhikode and Hyderabad this summer. Due to strong demand from business and leisure travellers, a double-daily frequency will be operated to Bangalore, Chennai and Kozhikode from today, and Hyderabad from October 1st.
Etihad hosts IATA safety workshop
Etihad Airways has hosted a global airline safety workshop on behalf of the International Air Transport Association. The three-day event concluded at the new Etihad Airways Centre in Abu Dhabi earlier, with officials from IATA and a number of its airline members discussing the importance of moving toward an Integrated Management System to enhance the safety standards of airlines.
Etihad introduces new mobile boarding passes
Etihad Airways has introduced mobile boarding passes on select routes for passengers using its mobile online check-in facility. The new facility, which is available to Etihad Airways’ passengers travelling from its UK departure points of London Heathrow and Manchester, offers increased check-in options, reduces paper wastage, eliminates the risk of boarding pass loss, and enables the storage of multiple boarding passes on one mobile device.
Etihad agrees terms for Alitalia investment
Abu Dhabi’s state-owned Etihad Airways has confirmed it has agreed terms and conditions for its purchase of a 49 per cent stake in Alitalia. In a joint statement, the airline said it would now move to finalise the deal for the Italian flag-carrier “as soon as possible”.
Etihad appoints new management ahead of Armenia route launch
Douglas, who takes up the role immediately, will lead the airline’s Armenian sales and marketing operations from its new Yerevan office. The appointment comes as Etihad Airways prepares to launch four flights per week between Abu Dhabi and Yerevan on July 2nd 2014.
Etihad and Air Seychelles extend codeshare
Etihad Airways has extended its codeshare agreement with Air Seychelles to include the island carrier’s new services between Paris and Abu Dhabi, scheduled to commence on 2 July 2014.
