Dubai puts the ‘mega’ into famil
Dubai’s Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (DTCM) in partnership with Emirates, and a range of Dubai hotels and attractions, has shown 280 Australian and New Zealand agents some of the very best that the destination has to offer in a five day ‘mega’ famil (familiarisation trip) in the emirate. The programme was organised by DTCM’s Australia and New Zealand office, one of 19 offices that DTCM operates across the globe.
The Act, Dubai, doubles capacity to meet demand
The Act Dubai, the world’s highest theatre club with dining, launched in March 2013 with a star-studded red carpet event. Since the launch the concept has only been open on Thursdays. With tables and guest list booked up weeks in advance, The Act Dubai have added another night to the week for guests to come and enjoy the spectacular shows and acts, flown in from around the world.
Dubai hosts important congress of Spanish tour operators
The FETAVE (Federation of Spanish Travel Agencies and Territorial Associations) Congress is an annual event aimed at promoting the flow of tourism and identifying future tourism trends. The 2013 edition was organised by Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and its partner Alpha Tours, as part of DTCM’s ongoing positioning of Dubai as the world’s leading tourism and commerce destination.
Dubai Convention & Events Bureau recruits Hills Balfour in UK
Dubai Convention & Events Bureau has hired UK representation agency Hills Balfour to develop its Europe-wide sales and marketing activity and attract further MICE and association business to Dubai. Activity will be led by senior MICE account manager Maris Kuklis, who commented: “Dubai is one of the world’s pre-eminent business tourism destinations with enormous potential to further increase its events product alongside its established association business.”

Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) is planning to open an office in Brazil in a bid to attract visitors from the growing South American tourism market.
Mohammed bin Rashid approves Dubai’s new tourism vision for 2020
His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, today officially approved Dubai’s Vision for Tourism: By 2020, Dubai will welcome 20 million visitors per year, and the annual contribution made by tourism to the city’s economy will triple.
Record month for Dubai international
Dubai International registered a record 5.8 million passengers in March, according to the monthly traffic report issued by Dubai Airports. Passenger traffic in March surged by 20.6 per cent, the highest since August 2012, to 5,846,297 compared to 4,848,320 in March 2012, the fourth consecutive month with more than five million passengers and a double-digit growth.
Dubai Tourism participates in Riyadh Travel Fair 2013
Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) will use the second edition of Riyadh Travel Fair (April 23-26) as a platform from which to continue to grow its inbound tourism from Saudi Arabia.
Dubai International takes A380 crown
Dubai International, the fastest growing airport in 2012 according to OAG statistics and the second busiest airport for international passenger traffic according to Airports Council International data, can now claim the title as the world’s leading hub for A380 operations according to published airline industry flight schedule data for 2012. Published schedule data for 2012 shows the airport had 7,259 A380 scheduled flights to 28 destinations, with all but 88 of those flights scheduled by Emirates airline, the world’s biggest operator of the double-decker aircraft.
Etihad Travel Mall unveiled in Dubai
Etihad Airways has unveiled the new Etihad Travel Mall, its flagship one-stop travel retail and check-in facility, in Dubai. His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Aviation Authority and Emirates Group, officially opened the Etihad Travel Mall during a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by James Hogan, Etihad Airways President and Chief Executive Officer.
Dubai International Airport continues global rise
Dubai International Airport is the fastest growing airport in the world, as measured by annual seat capacity growth, according to the latest statistics from OAG. The OAG FACTS - Frequency and Capacity Trend Statistics - report for April shows that 757,000 additional seats will be available from Dubai International Airport in April 2013 compared to April 2012.
Dubai Heritage sites complete transfer
The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) today announced the official transfer of the fifteen Dubai heritage and archaeological sites from DTCM to Dubai Culture. According to law number 6 for the year 2008, Dubai Culture will be responsible for the sites, which include museums and heritage villages and a number of artifacts which date back to 3000BC.
