Dubai puts the ‘mega’ into famil

Dubai’s Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (DTCM) in partnership with Emirates, and a range of Dubai hotels and attractions, has shown 280 Australian and New Zealand agents some of the very best that the destination has to offer in a five day ‘mega’ famil (familiarisation trip) in the emirate. The programme was organised by DTCM’s Australia and New Zealand office, one of 19 offices that DTCM operates across the globe.

Dubai International registered a record 5.8 million passengers in March, according to the monthly traffic report issued by Dubai Airports. Passenger traffic in March surged by 20.6 per cent, the highest since August 2012, to 5,846,297 compared to 4,848,320 in March 2012, the fourth consecutive month with more than five million passengers and a double-digit growth.

Dubai International, the fastest growing airport in 2012 according to OAG statistics and the second busiest airport for international passenger traffic according to Airports Council International data, can now claim the title as the world’s leading hub for A380 operations according to published airline industry flight schedule data for 2012. Published schedule data for 2012 shows the airport had 7,259 A380 scheduled flights to 28 destinations, with all but 88 of those flights scheduled by Emirates airline, the world’s biggest operator of the double-decker aircraft.

Dubai International Airport is the fastest growing airport in the world, as measured by annual seat capacity growth, according to the latest statistics from OAG. The OAG FACTS - Frequency and Capacity Trend Statistics - report for April shows that 757,000 additional seats will be available from Dubai International Airport in April 2013 compared to April 2012.

The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) today announced the official transfer of the fifteen Dubai heritage and archaeological sites from DTCM to Dubai Culture. According to law number 6 for the year 2008, Dubai Culture will be responsible for the sites, which include museums and heritage villages and a number of artifacts which date back to 3000BC.
