World watches Dubai win World Expo 2020 bid

Dubai International continues skyward trajectory
Dubai International recorded its tenth consecutive month with more than five million travellers in October, according to the monthly traffic report issued by airport operator Dubai Airports. Passenger traffic in October totalled 5,667,698, up 15.1 per cent from 4,923,246 recorded during the same month in 2012.

Dubai Air Show: Etihad Airways goes regional with Darwin deal
Etihad Airways has announced a ‘step-change in global aviation,’ with the launch of its first branded regional operation, after taking a 33.3 per cent stake in Swiss carrier Darwin Airline. Following completion of the minority investment, which is subject to regulatory approval, Darwin Airline will re-brand its operations as Etihad Regional and align its network to connect passengers from secondary European markets onto the main networks of Etihad Airways and its equity alliance partners.
Dubai Air Show: flydubai places US$11 billion Boeing order
Boeing and flydubai today announced a commitment for up to 100 737 MAX 8 airplanes and 11 Next-Generation 737-800s at the Dubai Air Show. The commitment from the airline of the emirate of Dubai, valued at $11.4 billion at list prices, is the largest ever Boeing single-aisle airplane purchase in the Middle East.
Dubai Air Show: Emirates offers vote of confidence in Airbus A380
Dubai-based Emirates airline has placed an additional order for 50 A380 aircraft, allaying fears of flagging demand for very large aircraft in the Middle East. The order was signed at a ceremony at the 2013 Dubai Airshow witnessed by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, chairman, Emirates Airline and Fabrice Brégier, Airbus president.

Qatar Airways has formally announced its signature of a letter of intent to order 50 of the Boeing’s new 777-9X aircraft. Until today, the airline had no orders for the 777X to join its fleet.
Dubai Air Show: Boeing launches 777X program with record orders
Boeing has launched the 777X program at the 2013 Dubai Airshow with a record-breaking number of customer orders and commitments for the newest member of its twin-aisle product family. Agreements for 259 airplanes from four customers across Europe and the Middle East provide a strong foundation to support development and production of the airplane.
Dubai Air Show: Etihad places largest ever aircraft order
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has announced its largest ever fleet order, for 199 aircraft and 294 engines, in a US$ 67 billion dollar deal which will enable the airline to accelerate its industry-leading growth over the next decade. It announced firm orders at the Dubai Air Show for 87 Airbus and 56 Boeing aircraft, with a further 56 options and purchase rights.
Dubai positioned for cruise expansion
The burgeoning reputation of Dubai as an international hub for cruise tourism is set to be bolstered by an eventful 2013-14 season, with more than 20 leading global cruise lines anticipated to bring in as many as 300,000 tourists to the Emirate, according to Dubai Cruise Tourism, an entity of Dubai’s Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing.
United celebrates Dubai anniversary
United Airlines is celebrating the fifth anniversary of non-stop service between Dubai and its Washington/Dulles hub with a series of activities in the United Arab Emirates. United senior vice president sales, Dave Hilfman, and Jim Mueller, vice president Atlantic and Pacific sales, will host a number of events in Dubai for UAE customers and business partners including an anniversary reception, a golf tournament and a culinary demonstration by United Congress of Chefs member James Canora.
