Dubai Air Show to return to Middle East
Taking place at its new purpose built home at Dubai World Central the 2013 Dubai Airshow has a lot to offer as it returns to the Middle East. With a huge range of events happening, including a chance to view the planes on the ground, meet the pilots and see some of the best flight display teams in the world, the event is not to be missed.
Dubai set for largest manmade lagoon
Multinational Crystal Lagoons will mark its return to Cityscape in Dubai with the launch of its latest and grandest project to date, which once completed will be entered into the Guinness Book of World Records. The developer of giant crystalline lagoons has signed a deal to construct the world’s largest manmade lagoon, covering 40 hectares, almost four-times bigger than the world’s largest existing lagoon.
Dubai enjoys busiest first half-year ever, attracting 5.5 million visitors
More than 5.5 million tourists visited Dubai in the first half of 2013, representing an 11.1 per cent year-on-year increase, indicating that Dubai is on the way to achieving its Tourism Vision for 2020. The first half visitor number results, released by Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) today, show increases across all key indicators, including hotel establishment guests, hotel and hotel apartment revenues, room occupancy and average length of stay.
Dubai International continues meteoric rise
Dubai International’s passenger traffic hit 32.6 million in the first half of this year, making it the busiest six months in the airport’s record-studded history, according to the traffic report issued today by airport operator Dubai Airports. According to the report, Dubai International handled a total of 5,537,908 passengers in June, a robust growth of 17.5 per cent from the 4,714,746 who passed through the airport in June 2012.
Dubai International plays green card with Concourse D
In line with the aviation industry’s long-term aim of carbon neutral growth, Dubai Airports is working towards making Concourse D – which will become the new home of more than 100 international airlines that fly to Dubai International when it opens in 2015 – as energy efficient and sustainable as possible. Under the supervision of Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects, the new building will implement several green initiatives that will reduce the environmental impact of the new facility.
Malaysia Airlines resumes daily Dubai service
Malaysia Airlines will be adding Dubai back to its network effective 5 August 2013. The Kuala Lumpur-Dubai return service will be mounted daily via MH162 and MH163 using the Boeing 777-200 aircraft that offers a total capacity of 282 seats in each flight, equivalent to 3,948 seats weekly.
Dubai International reports continued growth
Dubai International has racked up another month of double-digit growth with 18.9 per cent increase in passenger numbers recorded in May, according to a traffic report issued by operator Dubai Airports. Passenger traffic in May reached 5,218,832, an increase of 18.9 per cent compared to 4,388,614 during the corresponding month in 2012.

Dubai seventh most popular destination in World
Dubai continues to climb the ranks as an international travel destination, according to MasterCard’s third annual Global Destination Cities Index. The UAE’s travel hub has consistently advanced its position since the inception of the Index in 2011, ranking ninth in its launch year, eighth in 2012 and seventh in the 2013 edition.
Higher still for Dubai International
Dubai International has registered nine straight months of double-digit growth according to the monthly traffic report issued by operator Dubai Airports earlier. The world’s second busiest airport for international passenger traffic, Dubai International recorded 5,418,946 passengers in April, an increase of 18.7 per cent compared to 4,566,673 during the corresponding month in 2012.
