Costa Cruises launches vegan menus
While many cruise lines now offer vegan or vegetarian options as part of their on-board culinary offering, Costa Cruises have gone one step further and created a dedicated vegan and vegetarian menu that will be available on cruise ships. Created in response to the growing demand for such cuisine, the menu cuts out all dairy products and even eggs, instead using ingredients derived from plants that will produce the same bold Italian flavours that reflect Costa’s proud Mediterranean roots.
Costa Cruises signs with Meyer Werft for two new vessels
German ship yard Meyer Werft has signed on to build two new cruise ships for Italian line Costa Cruises, billed as the largest ships ever built in terms of guest capacity. The move is part of a four ship deal signed by Costa-parent Carnival Corporation. In June, Carnival Corporation announced the other two ships included in the multi-billion dollar contract are destined for its German brand, AIDA Cruises.
Costa signs three year partnership with Alitalia at Expo 2015
Costa Cruises and Alitalia, the main Italian airline, have signed a three-year agreement which will see passengers departing Italy welcomed to scheduled and charter flights to reach the ports of embarkation for cruises around the world. The agreement, presented today at Expo Milano 2015, envisages a total of around 100,000 airline seats on Alitalia flights, made available to Costa Cruises in the period 2015-2018.
Britons to fight for compensation as Concordia captain begins jail sentence
Britons caught on the sinking Costa Concordia have vowed to continue their fight for compensation after the captain of the ship was jailed of manslaughter. Concordia has over 4,000 passengers on board when it struck rocks off the Tuscan island of Giglio, Italy, in 2012, sinking with the loss of 32 lives.
Costa Classica set to re-join fleet after €22m overhaul
After a complete redesign to the sum of a €22.5 million, the Costa Classica will join the Costa fleet as part of the Costa neoCollection that offers slow cruises to unique destinations. Costa Classica – at 53,000 gross tonnage and 654 cabins - will join Costa neoCollection, alongside Costa neoRomantica and Costa neoRiviera, offering some of the most stunning and unique Costa neoCollection itineraries with a “slow cruise” style that use smaller ships.
Costa Diadema interior revealed ahead of November launch
The first images of the interior of Costa Cruises’ new flagship, Costa Diadema, have been released. Costa Diadema, dubbed the ‘Regina del Mediterraneo’, or ‘Queen of the Mediterranean’ will be launching on November 7th 2014.
Costa Concordia prepares for final journey
Stricken cruise ship Costa Concordia is preparing to makes its final journey as authorities in Italy prepare to tow the vessel away for scrapping. Following a painstaking process to re-float the ship over a period of month, Concordia will now be towed to Genoa to be broken up for scrap.
Costa Concordia refloating operation begins
Authorities in Italy have begun the delicate task or refloating the Costa Concordia in what is being described as one of the biggest maritime salvage operations in history. The vessel hits rocks off the Italian island of Giglio in January 2012 and capsized, killing 32 people.
Costa Diadema set for November christening
The christening event of Costa Diadema, the new flagship of Costa Cruises, will be held in Genoa on November 7th 2014. Genoa, where Costa Cruises was founded and has its headquarters, will host local dignitaries, industry representatives plus Costa Diadema guests who will be able to book their participation at the event and either the vernissage cruise, departing from Trieste on November 1st, or the official inaugural cruise, departing from Savona on November 8th.

Starting in February 2014, Stefania Lallai has joined Costa Cruises as the new Sustainability and PR Director. She will report directly to Costa Crociere S.p.A. Vice President Communication & Sustainability Hansjoerg Kunze.
