Carnival Corporation adds capacity in China as momentum grows
Carnival Corporation will add two ships to its China fleet in 2016, making it the first global cruise company with six total ships based in China. The move will increase Carnival Corporation’s total capacity in China by an additional 58 per cent in 2016, further accelerating the company’s leadership position in the growing Chinese market, which continually delivers double-digit annual returns and is expected to eventually become the largest cruise market in the world.

Hilton expands into Yunnan, China, with latest opening
Hilton Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of Hilton Yuxi Fuxian Lake, bringing Hilton’s world-class hospitality to picturesque Yunnan Province for the first time. Owned by Yunnan Metropolitan City Investment Group and managed by Hilton Worldwide, Hilton Yuxi Fuxian Lake is located on the northeast coast of landmark destination Fuxian Lake.

The deal outlines a potential strategic partnership between Carnival Corporation and CMG that includes exploring two possible joint ventures in support of China’s ambitions to grow the cruising industry in China and meet escalating demand for cruises among Chinese travellers.
Chinese travellers turn their eyes toward British tourism
As new research paper has revealed aspirations to visit Britain in China are stronger than ever before. The news comes as VisitBritain holds its biggest Destination China tourism mission to date in Guangzhou and Hong Kong this week. In the 2014 Anholt GfK Nations Brand Index study, China ranked Britain second out of fifty nations for ‘Tourism’ - its highest ranking to date for this attribute and one place higher than in 2013.

Carnival Corporation, the world’s largest cruise company, has announced it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the China State Shipbuilding Corporation to explore the possibility of a joint venture aimed at accelerating the development and growth of the Chinese cruise industry. The Chinese sector is expected to be one of the largest cruise markets in the world, with 4.5 million passengers by 2020, according to the Chinese Ministry of Transport.
Boeing looks to China to drive $870bn Asian aviation market
Boeing, China’s leading provider of passenger airplanes, projects a demand in the country for 6,020 new airplanes over the next 20 years, valued at $870 billion. The company released its annual China Current Market Outlook earlier in Beijing which shows Chinese carriers will take delivery of nearly 45 per cent of the total demand for airplanes in the Asia Pacific region during the forecast period.
Abu Dhabi tourism seeks Chinese boost
Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority is working closely with its industry stakeholders on a number of key initiatives aimed at increasing the number of Chinese visitors to the emirate and encouraging those who do come to stay longer. News of the initiatives and their aims was spelt out at the opening of the third Chinese Visitor Summit which runs this week at the Rosewood Abu Dhabi hotel and which is being attended by 75 top Chinese travel agents and tour operators and a contingent of Chinese media.

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company has unveiled plans for its first golf resort in China when The Ritz-Carlton, Mission Hills opens in late 2015 on the island of Hainan. Adding to the brand’s growing portfolio of luxury hotels and resorts in China, The Ritz-Carlton, Mission Hills will be located in Haikou, the capital of Hainan Province.
PATA signs CRA training deal to boost Chinese tourism
The Pacific Asia Travel Association has signed a Master License agreement with China Ready & Accredited in order to promote the global rollout of CRA programmes to PATA members. CRA delivers a global system of training and accreditation, which provides Chinese consumers with an assurance of a pre-determined level of service quality when interacting with product and service providers outside mainland China.
