The Saxon Hotel, Villas & Spa in Johannesburg has disclosed details of its new spa.

Launching in November, the new 700sqm two-floor Saxon Spa will be an oasis of wellness, taking the guest on a holistic journey incorporating sound, touch and sight.

Tipped to be the most luxurious spa in the city, the space will comprise eight new treatment rooms including an all-glass couple’s treatment room, manicure and pedicure areas, hair spa, sleep zone, spa dining area, juice bar, steam room, heated hydro pool, wet treatment zone, hammam centre, heated outdoor plunge pool, sauna and outdoor treatment zone. 

Designed by internationally-acclaimed interior designer, Stephen Falcke, Saxon Spa has been created as a sanctuary of the senses with dark wood, copper, linen and water featuring throughout.

Central to spa journey will be the healing properties of Himalayan salt, incorporated into the design as well as therapies. 

Each treatment room will be ionised by a locally handcrafted Himalayan salt and recycled glass chandelier created by a local conservation and sustainability project. 

As well as making a striking centrepiece, the chandeliers will actively purify the air, stimulate circulation and increase energy levels. 

The sauna will also have three walls constructed entirely from the precious mineral.

The upper level will feature a spacious pedicure area with treatments from the highly acclaimed Margaret Dabbs; a tranquil sleep zone, stocked with relaxing teas and nutritious snacks; a hair spa offering cocooning treatments including a caviar hair mask as well as a dining area serving nutritious and delicious dishes, using fresh fruit and vegetables grown in The Saxon’s own rooftop vegetable garden.

The lower level will be themed around hydro-based therapies, comprising wet treatment zone where the invigorating Rasul treatment will take place; a floatation pod; unisex steam room; Himalayan salt sauna; heated outdoor plunge pool and relaxing day bed area; heated hydro pool; cold plunge pool for Kneipp therapy and hammam centre.

There will also be four stylish manicure stations and a juice bar serving refreshing fresh juices and smoothies including orange, carrot and raw honey and green apple, celery and spinach.

Couples can look forward to some down time in the tranquil glass-enclosed double treatment room, set amongst The Saxon’s lush gardens, offering a choice of indulgent experiences à deux including options to enjoy treatments under the stars.
