Rocky Mountaineer commissions Stadler for new GoldLeaf carriages

Rocky Mountaineer and Stadler have announced an agreement to add to the Canadian luxury tourist rail company’s fleet of custom made GoldLeaf carriages.

The project will see ten new coaches launch on Rocky Mountaineer’s rail routes in 2018.

Engineered with efficiency and guest comfort in mind, the design of the new carriages will leverage Stadler’s renowned expertise at facilities in Switzerland & Germany.

“We are constantly looking for ways to improve our guest experience, which is the core of our business.

“The care and attention that has gone into every detail of this carriage build is remarkable.

“We are focused on redefining comfort for our guests,” said Steve Sammut, president, Rocky Mountaineer.

“Stadler is a leader in railcar engineering, and working with them allows us to re-invent our most luxurious class of service from the ground up.”

Rocky Mountaineer is currently revitalising its entire fleet of GoldLeaf and SilverLeaf carriages.

The largest capital investment in Rocky Mountaineer’s 26 year history, the new custom made bi-level glass domed carriages are the first to be added since 2007.

“We are very proud to have won this order for these high-quality coaches and would like to express our gratitude for the trust that has been placed in us.

“Tailor-made is one of our core business areas and therefore, we are convinced that we will deliver on all wishes and needs to the complete satisfaction of our new business partner together with our Stadler team,” said Peter Spuhler, chief executive, Stadler Rail Group.
