Paul Baker appointed as President of Atlantis, Kerzner International

Paul Baker, President of Atlantis, Kerzner International, has nearly 20 years of international leadership experience in integrated resort operations. During his career, he has opened large scale integrated resorts, oversaw complex, multi-property operations, and developed new brand concepts within key markets such as Las Vegas, Malaysia and Macau.

In his current role, Baker oversees all operations and strategic direction for Atlantis Dubai, with over 6,000 colleagues. Baker is focused on building on the strength of the first luxury resort for the brand, Atlantis The Royal, as well as maintaining the exceptional performance of Atlantis, The Palm, and the continued success of Aquaventure World, home to the world’s largest waterpark and over 100 attractions and experiences.

Baker previously served as President of Grand Lisboa Palace in Macau, China, where he successfully opened the 1,892-room resort, onboarding 4,000 employees and delivering the project on time and within budget. His focus on employee engagement, training, and leadership development earned the resort a Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Rating.

Prior to this, Baker was Deputy Chief Operating Officer at Genting Malaysia Berhad, where he achieved record EBITDA despite significant challenges. His earlier experience includes senior roles at Wynn Macau and Caesars Entertainment, where he oversaw key operations and led major capital projects.

Taking the helm of the Atlantis brand, Baker will oversee the operations of Atlantis, The Palm, Atlantis The Royal and Atlantis Sanya.

Directly reporting to Philippe Zuber, CEO of Kerzner International, Baker will lead all operations, strategic direction, management, and continued growth of Atlantis Dubai. This includes additional responsibilities of all Administrative, Commercial, Retail, Food and Beverage, Banqueting and Events, Marine and Waterpark and Recreational Services across the destination.

With nearly 20 years of international experience, Baker brings an abundance of knowledge and expertise to Atlantis Resorts. His impressive career in hospitality and entertainment, including key markets such as Las Vegas, USA, Malaysia and Macau, China, is a testament to his leadership skills. Most recently, Baker served as President of Grand Lisboa Palace in Macau, managing the successful opening of the 1,892-room integrated resort despite significant challenges. Prior to joining Grand Lisboa Palace, Baker held the title of Deputy Chief Operating Officer of Genting Malaysia Berhad, the largest integrated luxury resort in the world, consisting of 10,000 hotel rooms, 200 F&B outlets, a theme park, retail space and a golf course.

Baker joins Atlantis at a key time for the brand. After a fantastic first year, Atlantis The Royal grows from strength to strength, and Atlantis, The Palm continues to break records, achieving the highest year-to-date revenue in resort history for the first half of 2024. Baker’s extensive knowledge of managing and leading teams in diverse cultural and operational landscapes uniquely positions him to drive the Atlantis brand forward.

Baker has degrees from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science in Philosophy and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts.
