Joburg raises the luxury stakes

Johannesburg’s Chocolate Studio has appointed a Senior Chocolatier Kevin Miller at the luxurious new Chocolate Studio

The Johannesburg Chocolate Studio is only the second of its kind in the world, with the first one having opened last year in Cape Town. The innovative studio will offer specialised training workshops to entry level chefs, non professionals and chocolate enthusiasts.

Set to open its doors this December, the Chocolate Studio will present the young pastry chef with a whole new world of sweet possibilities and the chance to share his expertise with all chocolate-lovers.

Kevin Miller brings years of experience as a top pastry chef. After having studied Hotel and Restaurant Management at the Swiss Hotel School in Randburg, he spent part of his training doing a four month practical at the Landgastof Puurehuus guest house in Switzerland before moving to Kloofzicht Lodge in Muldersdrift, the Mount Grace in Magaliesburg, the Palace of the Lost City at Sun City and more recently the Silverstar Casino.

In August 2010, Kevin was also selected as an official member of the South African National Culinary Team to represent the country in the Culinary World Cup in Luxembourg before joining the Master Chocolatiers at the Lindt Chocolate Studio in Johannesburg.


“Creating fine chocolate is an art that requires great skill, dedication & passion and I look forward to welcoming Kevin into our expert team at the Chocolate Studio,” says Head Chocolatier Dimo Simatos.

“I am passionate about opening people’s minds to food and surprising them with something different. I believe I have found my dream job here at the Chocolate Studio,” says Kevin.

Studio courses will include: The Chocolate Appreciation Course – a discovery of the five senses, The Lindt Dessert Tasters, the Art of Chocolate Truffles, the Lindt Cup Cakes Course, Lindt Petit Desserts, and Cake Decorating among other exciting classes.
