An exclusive group of hospitality leaders has joined Delta Air Lines at a champagne reception at The View from The Shard in London at the carrier takes off for Portland, Oregon.

The first flight on the route took off from London Heathrow last week, and will fly four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays throughout the summer season.

The service will open up a new non-stop destination for British travellers in the United States’ Pacific North West.

Jeff Miller, chief executive of Travel Portland, joined representatives from Delta Air Lines at the event in one of London’s most glamourous event spaces.
