Travelocity.com to Consolidate California Call Centers

FORT WORTH, TEXAS—Travelocity.com, (NASDAQ: TVLY) the leading online travel Web site, announced today that in order to achieve operational efficiencies, it is consolidating the company’s San Francisco, Calif. customer service operation with its Rancho Cordova, Calif. location effective October 6, 2000.
“We remain firmly committed to expanding our customer service operations and feel the consolidation of these two centers gives the most potential for growth while maintaining lower operating costs,” said Terrell B. Jones, president and chief executive officer of Travelocity.com. “Combining our California call center operations in the Rancho Cordova location allows us to continue providing great customer service at a cost level consistent with our competition.” San Francisco employees will be given the opportunity to relocate to Rancho Cordova as Travelocity.com is expanding its operations there and in its other service location in San Antonio, Texas.
The consolidation only affects the 49 customer service positions that support air, car and hotel sales; all other positions in the San Francisco office are unaffected.
“We are proud of what our customer service representatives in San Francisco have accomplished. And, this has been a tough decision,” said Jones. “We are fully dedicated to our employees and want to give them every opportunity to continue to grow with Travelocity.com by giving them the option of relocating to the Rancho Cordova location.”
