On October 1 this year, Scandinavian Airline’s first Airbus A330-300 will be delivered to Kastrup Airport, Denmark. This aircraft model is intended primarily for the airline’s traffic across the North Atlantic.

Scandinavian Airlines has ordered a total of eleven A340/330 aircraft. Both aircraft types are members of the same product family, which gives the airline a number of coordination advantages. For example, crews can be easily shifted between the aircraft and technical maintenance can be coordinated.

To date, seven A340s have been delivered and now the company’s first A330 is inbound. Both aircraft types are identical except for the engines. Scandinavian Airlines has equipped its A330s with two Trent 772B engines from Rolls Royce. With thrust of 72,000 pounds each, the engines are the most powerful available for the A330-300 aircraft series. In addition to power performance, operating economy and environmental characteristics were the keys to the selection of Rolls-Royce.

The Scandinavian Airlines version of the aircraft features three classes configured for a total of 261 passengers - 54 in Business Class, 24 in Economy Extra and 183 in Economy Class.

Business Class is spaciously configured, with plenty of room for passengers and carry-on luggage. The interior is in a tasteful Scandinavian design. Each seat has its own telephone, PC power outlet, a practical and adjustable reading lamp and an individual screen in the armrest with a wide range of channels for film, music and games. The distance between the seats is 1.27 meters, which provides for a comfortable tilting of the seat back.

Economy Extra also offers solid comfort and specially designed stools, with adjustable neck support and nearly one meter to the seat in front. Passengers who select this upgraded economy class can sit comfortably and work during the flight. All passengers in this class also have their own video screen, which is built into the seat in front of them and the entertainment offering is the same as in Business Class.

The Economy Class in the new long-distance aircraft are also equipped with comfortable seats, but without a PC outlet. Each passenger has an individual video screen built into the seat in front of them, with a wide selection of films, music and games.
