Korean Air Expands China, S.W. Asia, Japan Routes

Korean Air is expanding its route structure in Asia and will have five new routes to China, Japan and Southeast Asia by year`s end.


Korean Air is expanding its route structure in Asia and will have five new routes to China, Japan and Southeast Asia by year`s end.


The new flights are based on the distribution of routes rights by the Korean Civil Aviation Bureau earlier this year.


Korean Air recently introduced Pusan&#126Qingdau service three times per week and will begin operation of two other new routes to China by the end of the year: Incheon&#126Wuhan and Incheon&#126Kunming.


The Incheon&#126Wuhan flight begins December 5 and will operate twice per week on Wednesdays and Sundays departing Incheon at 10 a.m. and arriving in Wuhan at noon. The flight will depart Wuhan at 1 p.m. and arrive at Incheon at 4:30 p.m. An MD-82 will be used. Wuhan is located in central China and is an industrial region and important transportation center for China.

Incheon&#126Kunming service will launch December 10 and operate twice per week on Mondays and Fridays departing Incheon at 7 p.m. and arriving in Kunming at 11:15 p.m. The return flight departs Kunming at 12:15 a.m. and arrives at Incheon at 5 a.m. A B737 will be used on the flight. Kunming is located near the Vietnam/ Laos border and is quickly developing into a major transportation center and industrial region within China.


Korean Air also is starting new service to Akita, Japan October 29. The Incheon&#126Akita flight will operate three times per week on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. On Mondays, the flight departs Incheon at 3:40 p.m. and arrives in Akita at 5:50 p.m. On Thursdays and Saturdays respectively, flights will depart Incheon at 9:55 a.m. and noon. A 160-seat B737 will be used on the route.


New service to Hanoi will start December 18 using a B737-800. The flight departs for Hanoi from Incheon Tuesdays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and arrives in Hanoi at 10:20 p.m. local time. Flights will depart Hanoi for Incheon Wednesdays and Sundays at 11:30 p.m. and arrive at Incheon the next day at 5:40 a.m.
