AT&T Calls on Concur for Web-based Travel Expense Management

Concur Technologies (Nasdaq: CNQR), the leading provider of employee-facing business applications, today announced that AT&T, the world’s premier voice and data communications company, has selected Concur’s Xpense Management Solution? (XMS?) to automate the management of travel and entertainment expenses. AT&T expects the intranet-based XMS to speed up the reporting and processing of its travel expenses—as well as corporate procurement card expenses—generating significant time savings for the 60,000 AT&T employees who will be using the system.
“As we were exploring our options in automated expense reporting, our top priority was finding an easy-to-use, Web-based solution with proven success in large corporations,” said Lisa Bowling, group procurement manager for AT&T’s travel and event services. “We were also looking for a system that could handle both T&E and procurement card expenses. Based on Concur’s ability to meet that need and their impressive customer list, which included several large, blue-chip corporations, we felt that XMS could successfully and seamlessly accommodate the large volume of expense reports generated by the AT&T employees using our current, in-house system.”

AT&T joins dozens of Global 500 companies across a wide variety of industries that have recognized cost savings and process efficiencies with XMS. American Airlines, DuPont, Harvard University, J.C. Penney, Lucent Technologies, Northrop Grumman, Rhone-Poulenc Rorer, Seagram, Texaco, and Texas Instruments are among Concur’s XMS customers.

“We are pleased to add AT&T to our growing list of world-class customers,” said Steve Singh, president and chief executive officer of Concur. “AT&T thoroughly researched existing automated expense management solutions, and XMS was their top choice. Using XMS for the management of both travel and procurement card expenses will help AT&T consolidate both processes into one system for employees and for the accounting department, thereby increasing process efficiencies and dramatically improving employee productivity.”

Using XMS to automate expense reporting via the company’s corporate intranet also will greatly reduce IT department time spent on installation and maintenance. Under AT&T’s current in-house expense management system, minor changes to corporate policy are difficult to incorporate and require all users to download all updated versions. With XMS, AT&T will leverage its intranet to make on-line changes that will be accessible to users the next time they log in.

Another important factor in AT&T’s selection of XMS was the product’s intuitive user-interface. AT&T expects a smooth transition from its current system to Concur’s expense management solution - with little to no training required for employees to begin submitting and approving expense reports.

Other key features that led AT&T to choose XMS were its ability to flag policy violations to assist busy managers in the approval process and the data collection capabilities that will help the travel department negotiate better rates with vendors.

Concur will work with its recently announced systems integration partner, Cambridge Technology Partners, to implement XMS at AT&T.
