Eyewitness guides go online

Dorling Kindersley, publisher of the award-winning, best-selling Eyewitness
Travel Guides, announce today the forthcoming launch of a dedicated travel
website, www.travel.dk.com, and is looking for
partners in the travel industry.Eyewitness is a recognised global brand and, as part of the Penguin Group,
commands the highest position in travel guide sales in the UK with
unrivalled content which has not been available online until now.
www.travel.dk.com will combine content, booking
facilities and reviews, with the ability to create and print your own custom
guide for your trip and share it with your friends. A members’ area,
available for a small annual fee, will offer special discounts and features,
and allow corporate clients opportunities to offer benefits to their own
members.

Georgina Atwell, Head of DK Online, said, “Travellers get so much of their
information online these days, from hotel and flight prices to
recommendations for restaurants. We want to offer all of this with the
additional benefit of creating personal guides which are perfect as mementos
of trips and for groups of friends travelling together. We think it’s very
important for Eyewitness readers to give us their feedback on places we’ve
recommended and create a real travel community.”

“Our readers consistently tell us that they value the quality we bring to
travel guides, whether it’s content, design or production,” said Atwell. “We
won the Guardian/Observer Travel Awards for Best Travel Guides twice for
these qualities. We want to work with other high quality travel brands to
give travellers the best travel experience they can have on
www.travel.dk.com .”

The website will be launched at Destinations in February 2007. The site is
designed for British and American users, with cities around the globe
featured and thousands of maps and images. www.travel.dk.com
  will host advertising.
