Breaking Travel News feature: Sixt Rent a Car

Under the careful guidance of Regine Sixt, who currently holds the role of senior executive vice president with the company, Sixt International has grown to become an industry leader in mobility.

Last year Sixt is was recognised as both the World’s Leading Business Car Rental Company and the World’s Leading Luxury Car Rental Company by voters at the World Travel Awards – an historic achievement.

Picking up the trophies, Regine Sixt said: “The World Travel Awards are the Oscars of the entire travel industry. To receive this special prize is something unique and makes us very proud. It is a clear confirmation of our quality and premium standards, which we offer worldwide. I would therefore like to congratulate the Sixt staff in these excellent countries. Their daily commitment made this success possible.”

The accolades come at the end of continued expansion for the company.

Most recently, Sixt has established a new event transportation division, designed to support professional trade fair and event managers in organising exclusive events. Previously marketed through Sixt Limousine Service, solutions are tailored to the varying needs of customers and events. Whether classical driving service, shuttle service, vehicle branding or valet parking – Sixt offers the right solution for everyone.

Trade fair and event hosts can also be booked.

Sixt Event Transportation offers customers all-round support. Experienced employees are available for personal advice, coordinating on-site when required. Customers can fall back on a broad fleet of high-quality vehicles from the practical shuttlebus to the luxurious limousine. Vehicles can also be booked without additional services.

The event transportation service is equally ideal for company events, major public events and private occasions such as weddings.

This expansion in the luxury space has been followed by a significant expansion in North America.

Sixt opened its first Hawaiian station on Maui Island late last year and thus expanded its presence to one of the world’s most beautiful and popular holiday destinations. Travellers can pick up their dream vehicle directly at Maui Kahului Airport and explore the island’s special sights, including the Road to Hāna, the famous whaler and plantation city Lāhainā, the south coast with Māʻalaea Bay or the old sugar cane city with the coral reef Spartan Reef.

With the launch on Maui, Sixt is also bringing its proven premium services to the Hawaiian Islands. These include consistent customer orientation as well as a fleet of high-quality vehicles that covers all mobility needs on the island. For example, travellers can choose from convertibles or SUVs from renowned brands such as Jeep or Mercedes-Benz.

The launch on Maui marks the latest step in Sixt’s successful US expansion. With its premium strategy, the mobility service provider has a special position on the American market and has developed into the country’s fourth-largest car rental company since the start in 2011. Sixt already has a presence at 54 locations, including 20 top airports in the United States. The mobility service provider is strongly represented at Miami, Orlando and Los Angeles airports, which are among the five largest stations in the worldwide Sixt network.

In recent months, Sixt has opened several new presences at important travel destinations.

Back in Europe, Sixt and travel group Thomas Cook recently renewed and significantly expanded their partnership. The new cooperation includes the airlines Thomas Cook Group Airline in UK and Germany as well as the group’s travel agencies in Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Regine Sixt explained: “With Sixt and the Thomas Cook Group, two global players in the travel industry join forces. Our companies are united by the demand for premium quality and a common goal: we want to make our customers’ travel as pleasant as possible.”

She added: “That is why I am really pleased about the expansion of our long-standing and successful partnership. Together we create important added value for our customers.”

As an exclusive car rental partner of Thomas Cook Airlines and Condor, Sixt now offers joint customers its premium car rental services and the convenient transfer services of Sixt mydriver. The new cooperation will make it possible for customers to book the desired Sixt product over the Internet sites of Thomas Cook Airline and Condor – for example directly after booking their flight. This will make travel planning easier and guarantee seamless connecting mobility at the holiday destination.

At the Thomas Cook and partner travel agencies, customers will receive the holiday car rental product Sixt holiday for their all-round carefree vacation – an attractive prepaid all-inclusive offer with which they can individually explore their dream destination. The integration of Sixt holiday into various booking systems such as Sixt Agency Login, Amadeus TOMA and myJack will make it easy to organise the entire trip.

Thanks to the preferred partnership with Sixt as a direct provider, the Thomas Cook and partner travel agencies can offer their customers clear increases in value on their journeys, like access to a broad premium fleet of numerous vehicle classes, high-quality services and an attractive price performance ratio. Sixt is present in more than 100 countries worldwide and is therefore available at almost all destinations served by the Thomas Cook Group Airline. Users can book the mydriver driving service in many major cities in around 60 countries around the globe.

Finally, Sixt has signed a strategic partnership with Addison Lee Group that will bring its market-leading offering to Sixt app users starting in London, with a phased global roll-out due later this year.

The app – downloadable on both Google Play and Apple Store – offers driver and chauffeured services for immediate bookings and pre-book reservations. Together with the partner offers, the Sixt app includes one of the world’s largest networks of taxi and ride-hailing services.

Addison Lee Group provides global end-to-end services in 350 locations, and across 83 countries. All vehicles are equipped with free 4G Wi-Fi and phone chargers to keep customers connected on the go, as well as air conditioning and privacy glass.

The service available on the app can be used for day-to-day journeys, special occasions and events, either with Addison Lee Group’s well-recognised premium vehicles, or via their luxury executive service offering. Customers will enjoy fixed journey prices, even during peak times, easy billing and payment online, as well as punctual pick-up and arrival at the desired destination.
