Breaking Travel News interview: Marriott Executive Apartments, Thailand

Marriott Executive Apartments has been nominated for the third successive year as Thailand’s Leading Serviced Apartment Brand by the World Travel Awards.

Here Breaking Travel News catches up with the general managers of the properties to find out just what it is that keeps them ahead of the chasing pack.

Breaking Travel News: Marriott Executive Apartments has been nominated for the third successive year as Thailand’s Leading Serviced Apartment Brand by the World Travel Awards. What do you think it is that separates the properties from their competitors?

Adrian Ee, general manager, Marriott Executive Apartments Sathorn Vista:  It’s the confidence in the Marriott name which provides a high quality product and great service to all our guests.

It’s also the ability for us to be connected with all our other Marriott hotels while providing upscale accommodation in strategic locations in Bangkok.

BTN: How would you describe Thai tourism going into the second quarter of 2016? Has the political situation in the country had an impact on visitor numbers?

Rajat Chatterjee, general manager, Marriott Executive Apartments Bangkok, Sukhumvit Thonglor: The tourism industry in general has rebounded from the political situation in Bangkok.

According to statistics, Thailand has received more than 25 million tourists, exceeding its budget.

Given our current performance and forecast, we have the right to be optimistic about 2016.

At Marriott Executive Apartments, we have seen strong drive in corporate business travel segments and in FIT segment in quarter one of this year, and we expect the same, if not stronger pace, for the remaining of the year.

Sabreena Jacob of Marriott Executive Apartments

BTN: How established is the service apartment sector in Thailand? Is it fair to say Asian markets are still learning of the benefits?

Sabreena Jacob, general manager, Marriott Executive Apartments Sukhumvit Park: With 18,875 Serviced apartments in just Bangkok, it seems fair to say that this sector is very well established.

According to the last quarter report from Collier, around 445 serviced apartments were completed in 2015 with another 200 to come on board this year.

The Asian markets have a lot of expat movement that will continue to grow and luxury serviced apartments are the answer to hassle free living!

Travellers are not just looking for hotels but also for luxury serviced apartments that offer all hotel services and facilities, more room space and a good location.

In fact a trusted name like Marriott makes all the difference to travellers.

Being in an unfamiliar city, a product like ours has everything you need under one roof.

Just unpack and plug in!

In our case at Marriott Executive Apartments, Bangkok Sukhumvit Thonglor, it is even more unique as our executive apartments are located in the same vicinity at Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit, so what our guests have is the comfort of staying in your home while still enjoying all the five-star facilities that the hotel has to offer, including an award-winning steakhouse (The District Grill Room and Bar) and a multi-level rooftop bar, Octave Rooftop Lounge and Bar, commanding a stunning view of Bangkok skylines.

Sabreena Jacob:  The Marriott Executive Apartments at Sukhumvit Park tend to feel a lot more like home due to their distinctive residential design which enables comfortable living.

Not just a bedroom but an apartment with technology and work space for productivity, fully equipped kitchens and easy access to food and beverage to support daily routine.

Our serviced apartments give you the opportunity to settle in, even if you travel for a day or week by offering more space, privacy and flexibility with premier hotel services.

In addition we have six meeting rooms and can host corporate and social gatherings.
