Marriott and Vinpearl sign landmark agreement for eight new Vietnam hotels
Marriott has announced a strategic agreement with Vinpearl to convert and develop 2,200 rooms across eight hotels in Vietnam. Planned openings include Marriott Hotels, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, Four Points by Sheraton and Autograph Collection Hotels.
Starwood completes sale of Sheraton on the Park to Sunshine Insurance
Starwood has sold Sheraton on the Park in Sydney, Australia to Sunshine Insurance Group for AUS$463.0 million. Starwood has completed over US $1.5 billion of hotel asset sales over the last three years. “We are pleased to advance our asset-light strategy with the sale of the iconic Sheraton on the Park hotel and look forward to working closely with SIG to ensure its continued success,” said Simon Turner, president of global development for Starwood.
Starwood debuts Sheraton Shenyang South City Hotel
The Sheraton Shenyang South City Hotel has opened its doors in the Hunnan New District of Shenyang, the capital city of Liaoning Province in northeast China representing Starwood’s vigorous expansion plan in China.
Sheraton Dubai Mall of the Emirates Hotel now officially open
Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Majid Al Futtaim Properties have celebrated the opening of Sheraton Dubai Mall of the Emirates Hotel. With this opening, Starwood now operates 14 hotels in Dubai, representing the highest concentration of Starwood hotels in any individual city outside of New York.
Sheraton to open 30 hotels in 2013
Starwood Hotels & Resorts is planning to expand its Sheraton brand over the next 12 months with 30 planned openings, predominantly in the Asia Pacific region. Half of the new properties will open in China, lengthening Starwood’s lead as the largest upper-upscale global hotel operator in Asia Pacific.

Sheraton opens second hotel in Greater Hartford
Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of the Sheraton Hartford South Hotel. The former Marriott hotel is undergoing a $6 million renovation and conversion project to meet Sheraton brand standards. The opening is part of the Sheraton brand’s strategic $5 billion expansion effort.

The Sheraton Jiaozhou Hotel has opened its doors in the new district of Jiaozhou, near Qingdao city in Shandong province. The development marks the opening of the first Sheraton branded hotel, as well as the first hotel managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts in the region.
