Revealing its first-quarter results earlier, the low-cost carrier said it welcomed 2.5 million passengers in the three months to June 30th, up 100,000 from the same period last year.

With a further planned handback of all nine Embraer 195 jets, the overall fleet is well on the way to reducing in size from 85 at its peak in May 2017, to a target of around 70 aircraft by early 2020.

Flybe has started operating its extensive 2018 summer schedule from Cardiff Airport, featuring 17 routes with a total choice of up to 75 flights a week. The season has taken off with the launch of the first ever service between Cardiff and Venice.

Stobart Group has confirmed an interest in acquiring part or all or regional airline Flybe following press speculation. The logistics group and Flybe have a range of shared interests arising from Stobart’s ownership of London Southend Airport and the growing franchise arrangements between the two groups’ airlines.

Regional carrier Flybe has recorded 8.5 per cent growth in passenger revenue to £159 million, for the three months ending January 31st. The news comes as the airline also saw a 4.2 per cent reduction in seat capacity to three million over the period.

Flybe has today announced it will continue to operate its Manchester to Luxembourg service as part of its 2018 summer schedule. The evening flights will operate up to six times and are currently available to book through to July 1st.
