Marriott International Names Carolyn Handlon Senior Vice President, Finance And Treasurer
Marriott International, Inc. (MAR/NYSE) today announced that Carolyn B. Handlon has been named senior vice president, finance and treasurer. Handlon, who has been vice president and assistant treasurer of Marriott International since 1993, succeeds Raymond G. Murphy.
Since joining the original Marriott Corporation in 1987 in the company`s treasury department, Handlon has played an active role in the debt and equity markets to finance the company`s growth. She has been central to developing and managing the company`s relationship with the banking industry and rating agencies, and was instrumental in both the 1993 Marriott International/Host Marriott Corp. split and the 1998 Marriott International/Sodexho Marriott Services, Inc. spinoff and merger.
Handlon`s responsibilities as treasurer will include participating in major corporate growth decisions, continuing to manage Marriott`s banking relationships and the company`s cash portfolio, supervising Marriott`s rating agency relationships, and overseeing the company`s mortgage lending function.
Prior to joining Marriott, Ms. Handlon worked for the Overseas Private Investment Corporation and for the Continental Illinois National Bank and Trust.
Carolyn earned her MBA in finance from the Indiana University Graduate School of Business and her bachelor of arts degree in economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
