On the occasion of last year’s World Travel Market the Spanish hotel chain Ibiza Feeling announced a brand new project:

The Purple Hostel - the first accommodation in San Antonio, dedicated exclusively to the LGBT market, - not just gay friendly.

This year it takes more shape as there is an inauguration date for the opening of The Purple Hostel and you can also watch the first steps of refurbishment and rebranding:
In July 2013 one side of the facade of the building was provided by Ibiza Feeling for the “International Proactive Art Festival – Bloop”, supported and sponsored by the local town council of San Antonio and other island authorities and companies. Federico Massa, better known as Cruz, followed this year’s theme “Under Control” and decorated the facade of The Purple. The 32 year old, Milan born artist from New York City is a very famous street artist and this time he sprayed a giant squid in a glass aquarium on the wall, surrounded by a purple frame…

Although the hostel is not open yet, people come along and take photos of this impressive work of art.

Behind the scenes the construction work and embellishment is on its way: Air conditioning, flat screen satellite TV, new white and purple coloured room furniture and fittings, a modernized and enlarged courtyard with pool, a brightened and more functional reception-cum-bar and lounge area, WiFi etc. etc. etc!

The Purple Hostel is not meant to compete with any luxury or classical specialised gay or LGBT hotel anywhere, but it will be the first in San Antonio, Ibiza, to offer accommodation at reasonable prices and excellent food in the attached bar or at the poolside, served by sympathetic staff, attracting people from San Antonio, the entire island and anywhere else from the world. The soft opening of the hostel is scheduled for May 30th and the opening party will take place on the following day.
