Cathay Pacific orders 12 more Boeing 777s
Cathay Pacific Airways has announced the order of eight Boeing 777 freighters and four 777-300ER (extended range) airplanes from the American aerospace giant. Cathay Pacific won the title of World’s Leading Airline Business Class at the World Travel Award in 2010.
Etihad Airways launches flights to Nairobi, East Africa
Etihad Airways – recognised as the World’s Leading Airline by the World Travel Awards - has announced the start of flights to Nairobi, its first destination in East Africa. A daily service from Abu Dhabi to Nairobi will begin on April 1st next year, operated by a two class A320 aircraft with 16 Pearl Business class and 120 Coral Economy seats.
Back in Black: Virgin Atlantic reports a full-year profit
Virgin Atlantic has recorded a pre-tax profit of £18.5 million for the financial year, but warned rising fuel costs and weakening consumer confidence in the UK could take a toll in coming months. Revenues at the carrier – which was last year recognised as the World’s Leading Airline Business Class and World’s Leading Transatlantic Airline by the the World Travel Awards - grew 13 per cent to £2.7 billion.
Singapore Airlines outlines further expansion plans with new acquisition
Singapore Airlines – considered as offering the World’s Leading Inflight Entertainment by the World Travel Awards - has agreed to order eight more Boeing 777-300ERs to support growth plans for the years ahead. Deliveries of the new aircraft are scheduled to begin in the 2013/14 financial year.
