Virgin Atlantic steps up flights to Vancouver
Virgin Atlantic has announced it will be offering a fifth weekly service from London Heathrow to Vancouver in the peak months of summer 2014. To meet high demand for travel to one of Virgin Atlantic’s newest destinations, Sir Richard Branson’s airline is introducing a fifth weekly service to Vancouver – resulting in more than 2,000 additional seats to and from the Canadian city across the peak summer months.
Virgin Atlantic seeks to allay noise concerns with new strategy
Virgin Atlantic is today announcing an aviation-first, becoming the only airline to set itself robust noise targets and publish a strategy for delivering on those targets, in a fully peer-reviewed Noise Management Strategy. Sir Richard Branson’s airline has also outlined a manifesto of five pledges it will honour as it works to a challenging target of a further 75 per cent reduction in noise energy per flight by 2020.

Virgin Atlantic pulls out of Ghana
Virgin Atlantic has confirmed it will suspend flights to Ghana from September 23rd. The carrier blamed high fuel costs in Ghana and limited flight slots at Heathrow as the reason.

Norwegian signs Dreamliner deal with Virgin Atlantic
Norwegian Long Haul has signed a memorandum of understanding with Virgin Atlantic. The agreement enables Norwegian to tap into Virgin Atlantic’s expertise on long-haul operations, while Virgin Atlantic’s instructors will receive pilot training on board Norwegian’s brand new 787-8 Dreamliner. Norwegian’s first Dreamliner is due for delivery at the end of June.
Southern leaves Virgin Atlantic
Virgin Atlantic chief commercial officer Julie Southern has confirmed she will be leaving the airline next month. The decision comes just weeks after Southern lost out on the chief executive job to the newly appointed Craig Kreeger, who was recruited from American Airlines.
Virgin Atlantic improves in-flight entertainment offering
Virgin Atlantic has announced that passengers will be able to turn on their in-flight entertainment systems prior to take-off and will be able to leave it on during landing. This new service which is available on Virgin Atlantic’s video on demand in-flight entertainment system will offer passengers an additional two hours of entertainment per flight.
