Virgin America has unveiled its new home at San Francisco International Airport’s Terminal 2 with a series of inaugural flights. In a one-off flypast, a Virgin America jet was joined by Virgin Galactic operated WhiteKnightTwo and SpaceShipTwo as they made their inaugural landing at an international airport.

California-based Virgin America has signed an interline agreement with Emirates, the Dubai-based international carrier. The deal will see US travellers offered seamless travel on the networks of each carrier, with passengers offered the option to book flights through Emirates with connecting services on Virgin America.

Virgin America has confirmed an aggressive repositioning plan, which will see the North American airline offer departure to Canada for the first time. In what is being seen as a direct challenge to Air Canada, the airline said it would serve Toronto International Airport with daily flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco from as early as June 2010.
