Grand Hyatt Taipei has tapped veteran hotelier, Jan-Hendrik Meidinger, as its new general manager. In his new role, Meidinger will lead one of the region’s most iconic luxury properties and its 1,000 hotel ambassadors.

SuperStar Virgo to homeport in Kaohsiung from March
Star Cruises has announced the launch of a new three-month Kaohsiung homeport deployment of flagship SuperStar Virgo. The vessel will offer and a six day/five night Golden Triangle Journey from the port, featuring ports of call in Hong Kong, Manila and Laoag, allowing Taiwanese cruisers the flexibility to embark or disembark in Kaohsiung, Hong Kong or Manila.
Emirates launches A380 operations to Taipei and Prague
Emirates expanded their network of destinations served by its flagship A380 aircraft with the launch of new scheduled service to Taipei and Prague, reports Phil Blizzard in Dubai. In doing so Emirates are the first and only airline to operate an A380 into these two cities, making the total number of destinations served by Emirates’ iconic A380 to more than 40.
New leadership for Grand Hyatt Taipei
Grand Hyatt Taipei has tapped a veteran of the hospitality industry in Asia, Sammy Carolus, to lead the property and its 1,000 staff as general manager. Carolus previously was general manager of Thailand’s Hyatt Regency Hua Hin. He relocates to Taipei with more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry.

Taiwan sees 48% increase in UK visitors in Q1 2014
The Taiwan Tourism Bureau has announced a nearly 50 per cent increase in UK visitors in the first five months of 2014, when compared to the same period in 2013.
Fujita Kanko expands into Taipei
Japanese hospitality company Fujita Kanko, headquartered in Tokyo, has opened an office in Taipei. Taiwan is Japan’s third largest inbound market, according to the Japan National Tourism Organisation, after Korea and China.
Taiwan joins United States visa waiver programme
Taiwan has joined the United States Visa Waiver Program according to a statement from Janet Napolitano, secretary of the department of homeland security. Eligible Taiwan passport holders will now be able to visit the United States without visas on trips of up to 90 days.
Taiwan Tourism Bureau comes to London for 2012
London Taxi Advertising is launching a full livery taxi advertising campaign for the Taiwan Tourism Bureau in London. Paul Tremarco, sales director at London Taxi Advertising contacted the tourism bureau to promote the effectiveness of taxi advertising as an Outdoor medium during the London 2012 Summer Olympics – a format they have never used before.
