Hyatt Hotels to open first property in Iraq
Hyatt Hotels Corporation has confirmed it has entered into a management agreement with Claremont Group, a New York-based real estate development company, for a Hyatt Regency hotel in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. Expected to open in 2017, Hyatt Regency Sulaymaniyah will be the first Hyatt-branded hotel in Iraq.
InterContinental expands Russian presence with new properties
InterContinental Hotels Group has sought further growth in Russia and the CIS with the signing of three hotels in the region: Holiday Inn Express Naberezhnye-Chelny, Holiday Inn Express Samara and Staybridge Suite Baku. Holiday Inn Express Naberezhnye-Chelny is the third hotel to be signed as part of the multiple development franchise agreement signed in March 2013 with Regional Hotel Chain, a portfolio company of VIY Management, to develop 15 new hotels in Russia by 2019.

Sandals strikes deal for two resorts in Barbados
Sandals Resorts International has today applauded the government of Barbados following the announcement of a deal which will result in opening of two resorts in the country. Sandals and the government of Barbados reached the agreement following months of negotiations that will see the Caribbean’s leading resort company open the former Couples Resort in St Lawrence as a Sandals Resort as well as managing a new Beaches Resort set to be built on the site of the former Almond Beach Resort in St Peter.
ONYX to open Amari property in Dhaka, Bangladesh
Thailand-based, ONYX Hospitality Group has been appointed to operate a 134-room property in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Amari Dhaka is owned by Karishma Services and will be managed by ONYX under their upscale Amari brand. Located in the Business District of Gulshan, Amari Dhaka is scheduled to open in 2014.Amari Dhaka will feature 134 guest rooms and suites with room sizes of 33-75m2, three restaurants and bars, including a destination rooftop bar, a function hall suitable for weddings and meeting rooms.
Carlson to take Radisson Blu in Algeria
Carlson Rezidor has announced its very first project in Algeria: The Radisson Blu Hotel, Algiers Hydra. The property will feature 138 guest rooms is scheduled to open in the first three months of 2015.
