Carlson to take Radisson Blu in Algeria

Carlson Rezidor has announced its very first project in Algeria: The Radisson Blu Hotel, Algiers Hydra.

The property will feature 138 guest rooms is scheduled to open in the first three months of 2015.

“We are delighted to arrive in Algeria – a country with considerable growth potential where we aim to further strengthen the presence of our core brands Radisson Blu and Park Inn by Radisson,” said Wolfgang Neumann, president, Rezidor.

The signing also underlines the importance Africa has for Carlson Rezidor as a key development market.

All across the continent the group operates and develops 51 hotels with more than 11,300 rooms; in Northern Africa alone 14 hotels with more than 4,500 rooms (Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Libya).

The upper upscale Radisson Blu Hotel, Algiers Hydra will be prominently located in the Hydra Commune, part of the ‘Heights of Algiers’, which is considered as the wealthiest part of the Algerian capital and shelters the majority of the foreign embassies, ministries and universities.

Furthermore, the hotel is located less than 20 km from Algiers’ international airport.

The foundations of the hotel are ready and the prestigious project has been inaugurated by the Algerian Ministry of Tourism.

Besides 138 rooms with Radisson Blu signature services such a free high speed internet access, the hotel will offer a 315m² all-day dining restaurant, a 200m² lobby bar, as well as 380m² of meeting and conference facilities and a wellness and fitness centre.

With a population of 37 million inhabitants, Algeria is the richest country in Africa in terms of natural resources (gas and oil), and Algiers reports the highest RevPAR in Northern Africa. Algiers is also an important economic, commercial and financial centre.
