Serra Cafema Camp reopens in north-west Namibia

Qatar Airways touches down in Windhoek, Namibia
The capital of Namibia, Windhoek, has welcomed the first Qatar Airways flight to arrive at its international airport from Doha, Qatar. Windhoek is the first city in Namibia to be served by Qatar Airways, which will fly to and from the destination four times a week with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
European boom drives tourism in Namibia
Namibia is becoming an increasingly popular travel destination, confirmed by the 2015 visitor statistics that have been published by Pohamba Shifeta, minister of environment and tourism. Some 1.5 million international visitors travelled to Namibia in 2015, an increase of 5.1 per cent on the previous year.
KLM adds Namibia and Angola to winter schedule
KLM is expanding its network of routes this winter, offering three direct flights a week from Amsterdam to Windhoek via Luanda, Angola. As of October, a KLM Airbus A330-200 will depart from Amsterdam at 22:45 every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday for an overnight flight to the Namibian capital.
Chobe Water Villas opens to guests in Namibia
In contrast to the sand dunes of the Namib Desert, visitors to the Zambezi region in the north of the country are greeted with lush green and wild river landscapes. Located in the 150 square metre Kasika conservancy in the middle of the protected Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Area, the Chobe Water Villas – part of the Ohlthaver & List Group – has opened to guests.
UK arrivals to Namibia surge ahead in 2013
The Namibia ministry of tourism has released its arrival figures from 2013 showing a total of 23,185 arrivals from the UK - a 10.2 per cent increase year on year. In 2012 UK arrival had fallen by 2.5 per cent, with depletion in numbers to 21,035. In contrast in 2013 the UK market showed positive signs of growth, evident by the acceleration of visitors.

NamibRand Nature Reserve recognised for conservation efforts
NamibRand Nature Reserve, one of the largest private nature reserves in Africa, has expanded its conservation role to include preserving the star-filled night-time skies above its dunes and mountains. These efforts in night sky conservation have earned the reserve high honours as the International Dark-Sky Association has just announced that NamibRand Nature Reserve is the world’s newest International Dark Sky Reserve.
