Travelsoft Now Offers Global Access to Lufthansa Group’s Full NDC Content

Today the industry’s leading Travel Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) company Travelsoft is pleased to announce that Lufthansa Group’s full NDC content is now available on the group’s transport aggregation solution Travelsoft Transport Hub. Lufthansa welcomes the first Dreamliner with the Allegris cabin in Frankfurt: The Boeing 787-9 with the new interior in all classes landed at Frankfurt Airport from Seattle, WA. Initially, the newest member of the Lufthansa fleet will be used on flights from Frankfurt to Toronto, Canada, starting in mid-October. This year alone, Lufthansa expects up to nine more Boeing 787-9s at its largest hub in Frankfurt — equivalent to one new delivery every two weeks.

Lufthansa will launch a new year-round service from Riyadh to Munich starting 27 October 2025, operating three times a week. The route will use a modern Airbus A350-900 with 293 seats across Business, Premium Economy, and Economy classes. This addition complements Lufthansa’s existing daily flights to Frankfurt, offering customers more travel options between Saudi Arabia and Germany.

Lufthansa is now also offering unlimited free chatting on its intercontinental flights. Passengers can send and receive any number of messages from their own smartphone or tablet via the familiar apps, regardless of their travel class during the flight, including photos. Many passengers would like this free service to be introduced because they want to stay in touch with family and friends via text messages even on long flights. The new free service is offered with the support of Mastercard. To use it, passengers have to log in to FlyNet with a Miles & More service card number or an email address registered with Lufthansa Group Travel ID. They can also sign up or register during their flight.

Luis Monreal has been appointed new Director Sales Middle East Lufthansa Group Airlines, starting 01 April 2025. Based in Dubai, he will be steering the sales and commercial activities as well as coordinating and managing the representation for Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, SWISS, Brussels Airlines, Edelweiss and Eurowings in the large Middle East sales region, consisting of 16 countries. This region is comprised of all markets in the Gulf region (GCC), Turkey, the Levant region, Iraq, Iran and Pakistan. In his new position, Luis Monreal will report to Julia Hillenbrand, Vice President Sales Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Lufthansa Group Airlines. He will be succeeding Serkan Guerguen, who has taken over a new position at Lufthansa Group headquarters in Frankfurt.

The Lufthansa Group achieved its target of 25 percent female managers in the first quarter of 2025. Six years ago, the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the umbrella organization and association of over 300 airlines worldwide, launched the “25by2025” target to improve diversity, equality and inclusion in the aviation industry. More than 200 aviation companies have committed to this goal.

From now on, travelers can book flights with Lufthansa Allegris to additional destinations and select special Allegris seats. From March 30, the new long-haul cabin will also be available from Munich to San Diego and New York-Newark (from mid-April) and continuously from the beginning of August also to Charlotte. The connection to Bengaluru will continue to be offered. Guests who have already reserved a seat on these flights can look forward to a free upgrade to a comfortable Allegris seat.  Initially, passengers can experience the new First Class with its unique suites on flights to San Francisco, Chicago, San Diego, Shanghai and Bengaluru.

Since September 30th , Lufthansa Group has offered its guests the innovative Upstream Check-In (UCI) service in 8 ports of the Greater Bay Area. This service enables passengers who fly with Lufthansa German Airlines and Swiss International Air Lines to complete immigration, check-in and baggage tagging in 8 ports, namely 6 ferry ports and 2 land ports, before heading to the SkyPier, located in the restricted area of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). Seamlessly, passengers can then proceed directly to the boarding gates without clearing immigration and customs procedures in Hong Kong. Importantly, Upstream Check-In is also available for Lufthansa Group’s passengers who hold flight tickets from Europe to Greater Bay Area.

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) and its sister airlines within the Lufthansa Group will be extending their present Green Fares to their entire route networks with effect from 4 December 2024. By opting for a Green Fare for their long-haul flight, SWISS customers will reduce the carbon emissions generated by their individual air travel by 10 per cent through the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The remaining 90 per cent of such emissions will be offset through a financial contribution to quality climate protection projects.
