Jamaica Tourist Board has reassured the travel trade that the main tourism areas remain unaffected by the violence in its capital, Kingston. Any damage suffered was mostly to landscaping and utility poles.  Damage to hotels is limited and in general the Hotel sector is in good shape. We expect to be open for business and fully operational very soon.’

New room stock, increased airlift, airport expansions, a new convention centre and co-operation from the private sector have all contributed to the JTB’s bright visitor outlook for 2006, which they predict is set to grow by 10.6%.
