The consequences of the eurozone crisis for holiday destinations in southern Europe
To what degree does negative reporting on countries in crisis impact on their tourism statistics? This was the question which ITB Berlin and the market research institute IPK International examined as part of a travel trend assessment by the World Travel Monitor®. Their conclusion was that, compared with last year, arrivals in Greece from northern and central Europe were in decline. All other southern European holiday destinations were less badly affected and were able to balance losses and even grow.
ITB Berlin: “Global tourism defies numerous crises”
The global financial and economic crisis clearly has not dampened people’s desire to travel. According to the consultancy IPK International and the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), despite economically difficult times, in 2013 international tourism arrivals will once again grow in the order of two to four per cent.

ITB Berlin to hold seminars at South America’s largest travel trade show
At this year’s ABAV – A Feira de Turismo das Américas - Brazil’s travel trade show, in a move underlining German-Brazilian cooperation, ITB Berlin will be this year’s knowledge partner. From 24 to 26 October 2012 ITB Berlin will be represented at the travel trade show in Rio de Janeiro with its own stand and a wide-ranging convention programme.

BRIC countries: Russia leads the rankings for trips abroad
They all display dynamic economic growth but in terms of trips abroad the picture is different for each country. When it comes to travelling abroad and their economic situation the so-called BRIC countries* display no similarities. Neither China and Brazil, the economic powerhouses of the BRIC countries, nor China and India, the most populous in this group, generate the largest volume of trips abroad - instead it is Russia that leads the ranking in this category
