With the excitement of the opening ceremonies fading, ITB Berlin today got down to business, with 25,000 trade visitors expected to pass through the turnstiles. Poland – as partner country for the 45th annual exhibition – topped many visitors lists of must see attractions, with the country reporting a strong recovery in visitor numbers over the previous year.

Joburg Tourism celebrates at ITB Berlin
While thousands of visitors thronged through the gates of ITB Berlin, Johannesburg Tourism Company was taking a more relaxed approach, hosting an invitation only event at the South African embassy. Guests were treated to presentations from leading members of the organisation, including JTC chief executive Lindiwe Kwele, as the destination recounted the successes of 2010 and look forward to the coming year.

ITB Berlin overcomes strike by Deutsche Bahn
ITB Berlin is undertaking a number of measures to assist visitors arriving at the world’s leading travel trade show today, with staff on the S-Bahn and regional trains walking out on strike. U-Bahn, bus and tram services are not affected, with Deutsche Bahn employees due to strike between 04:00 – 10:00 today.
