International Day of Yoga comes to London
In the early hours of this morning, in celebration of International Day of Yoga 2016, India Tourism and The High Commission of India invited yoga enthusiasts to take part in a series of sunrise yoga sessions on the 69th and 72nd floors of The Shard, Western Europe’s tallest building. With views stretching across Britain’s capital, adults and children participated in a range of yoga classes led by some of the UK’s most influential instructors.
ITB Berlin announces first co-branded India show
ITB Berlin has revealed it will launch a co-branded travel trade show in India. Named Bharat International Tourism Bazaar, it will be first pure outbound show for the Indian market and will be held in New Delhi from October 3rd- 6th, 2016. It is an alliance that focuses on the power of the Indian traveller, and the show will be organised by Cross Section Media, the country’s first mover in business-to-business travel marts, and itself launched over twenty years ago.
Maldives drives tourism from India with latest road show
The Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation has organised a series of trade road shows in Lucknow, Chandigarh, Pune and Hyderabad, India keeping in line with its Visit Maldives 2016 year activities. These road shows are also a part of the overall strategy of MMPRC specifically for the India market in the year 2016.
Airbus to establish pilot training centre in Delhi, India
Airbus is establishing a world-class pilot and maintenance training centre in the National Capital Region of Delhi, to support the county’s need for new Airbus pilots. According to Airbus’ latest global market forecast, India requires over 1,600 passenger and freighter aircraft in the next 20 years to 2034, with an accompanying demand for new pilots and maintenance engineers.
Airbus predicts India will require over 1,600 new aircraft
India’s preference for Airbus aircraft was further consolidated in 2015 with 250 new firm orders, lifting market share of orders and the in-service fleet to over 70 per cent. Today some 56 per cent of India’s in service fleet are Airbus aircraft operated by most leading Indian carriers. This includes India’s first A320neo, the first to be delivered in the Asia region.
India Tourism appoints McCluskey to UK PR roll
India Tourism has appointed travel PR and destination specialists McCluskey International as its UK representation office with a brief to implement the destination’s public relation’s strategy in the respective market for a period of two years from December 2015. McCluskey International has been briefed to start work on the account with immediate effect, beginning with a general announcement of the win to both trade and consumer press.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts will has opened the highly anticipated St. Regis Mumbai. With this debut, the luxury brand has tripled its global footprint in the past decade to 35 hotels in the most coveted destinations around the world.
India confirms UK tourists eligible for e-Tourist visa
The High Commission of India confirmed that, from Saturday, UK tourists will be able to apply for the e-Tourist visa. This will undoubtedly simplify the process for UK applicants as visitors can now apply online for a 30 day visa.
British Airways to launch 787-9 Dreamliner on Delhi route in October
British Airways’ new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, complete with a new First class cabin, will start flying to Delhi from October 25th. The 787-9, the first of which is due to arrive with British Airways in September, is 20ft longer that its 787-8 predecessor, so as well as offering World Traveller, World Traveller Plus and Club World, there’s also room for a new First class cabin – a first for the airline’s 787 fleet.
Oman Air launches new services to Goa, India
Oman Air has launched a brand-new service between the Omani capital of Muscat and Goa, India. The new service, which was announced in January 2015 and started earlier, offers four flights per week. Goa is Oman Air’s eleventh destination in India, and the service meets strong demand from leisure travellers drawn by Goa’s famed natural beauty.
Dozens killed in Indian rail crash
More than 30 people have been killed in a rail accident in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The engine and two carriages of the Janta Express, which travels between Dehradun and Varanasi, derailed near the village of Bachhrawan.
